Hmmm, several angles this could be viewed from:
1. If you feel that you have ruined your chances for promotion, is this promotion to come from your immediate management (I assume they are the incompetent parties) or is it to come from a Director? Perhaps the Director recognises something in you that is worthy of promotion, irrespective of your relationship with middle management.
2. If the above is not the case and they are all blithering idiots, then I would just cruise until your long service leave (coming up soon???), take that and look for new opportunities.
3. 9 years is a long time in an industry, so there would be plenty of interest in your resume, no doubt - maybe even along the lines of industry related, but not the same job, if you didn't want to stay in that field
4. If you didn't want to stay in that field your skills would be very transferrable to other industries.
5. Anyway, I am putting the cart before the flying horse - the best way to "chime in that you were right all along" in my opinion is in writing. Thereby you can outline unemotionally your point of view and have the chane to reread and edit what you want to say before delivering it to the d!ckheads. There's nothing worse than firing up and letting rip what you really mean and sounding unprofessional.....when you write something, you have the advantage of foresight, which is soooo much better than hindsight.
Maybe your reluctance to comply with ideas that you deem damaging to the company is seen as a strength or, at the very least, loyalty to the company's progression and financials.......it's not always viewed as a good thing to be a "yes man", even though a lot of employees mistakenly view this as the case.

Sounds like you work in the same place I do. Well in my humble opinion you can chime all you want but unless you have another job lined up don't jeopardize your job. I'm sorry to hear that you have ruined your chance for promotion. Just remember scum rises to the top. You don't have to play yes man to the ideas of idiots but you do have to deal with the ones that get implemented. Besides, what good will it do you to do the old "I told you so" routine. Will it save your company or your job? I know of very few businesses out there that treat their employees like people. My suggestion to you is this: the next time you have to sit through one of those meetings say this little prayer. Dear God please keep your arm around my shoulders and your hand across my mouth. If you can't stop me from speaking please make my words sweet as I may have to eat them later.
At least you will know that you have your dignity intact when you walk out of the meeting. They don't care a fig about your dignity all they care about is the bottom line.
I always take a note book & pen in with me so I can doodle or write poetry or letters to the editor. To them it looks like I'm taking notes.

I can understand what you mean about not being a Yes man.
But in this situation why not attack it on another angle.
Instead of saying no that idea isnt going to work.. Think of a way it could work..
So instead of being negitive to an idea.. (that yes these so call experts might have),,.
Use the idea like this..... Yes i see where your coming from Charles.. you might have a problem with (this or that) so why not look at it (this way... or do it that way), at least then it wont be a problem when you push your idea on the marketplace..
Hence the boss might see you in another light rather than just someone that diddnt pitch in and idea only put down someone elses idea.

Unfortunately you are an arrogant fool. No one likes a critic - be a solution man. Try this ...I realise their have been some hiccups with the such & such project, I believe that if we (insert the solution) we can get on top of this. Suggest, do not tell. You do not know your place...which is lower than them. Why can't you be sacked...oh well you can always be ignored. Smug attitude will not help you in any shape or form.

You sound stressed out. If speaking up will in any way correct the situation I say go for it. If it is just to say "I told you so", you're probably hurting yourself more than anyone.
Either find a way to live with the situation or change something,or it will begin to tell on your health.

Well, if u do go the "I was rt all along" route, I would say start looking for a new job. My husband is like u n he is constantly changing jobs. There's something btween bn a "yes man" n bn a "know it all"..isn't there?
