Punishment? Are you referring to the results of one's own actions? If so, the punishment if of one's ownself, rather than from God. However, if one should seek God's guidance before making choices then there may not be a 'punishment' to be considered. God is very real!

Complex question - but if I get your drift you think that living on Earth is a punishment?
First, without laws and a system with which to back those laws, we would live in chaos. A person who has wronged another, needs to make restitution - sometimes that restitution comes in the form of punishment. A parent will punish a child as a way to teach the child the difference between right and wrong. If a child lies, you need to make it unpleasant for them in order for them to learn that lying is not going to get them their desired result - so you take away privileges or ground them, whatever.
God's laws are the same. We do the crime, we do the time. But the punishment is eternal separation from God (God will not be around sin - it is repugnant as He is infinitely holy). So yes we deserve punishment for our sins. Thankfully God did not want to be separated from us, so He provided salvation through Christ Jesus.
Earth is not a place of punishment. It's more of a place to learn and grow. Living here on this Earth does not mean you have to be separated from God. It does not have to be a bad place to live. It is full of beauty, caring wonderful people, fun things to do, great things to eat - but we can make it bad by choosing to ignore the blessings we have and focusing on the negative.

God does not punish people they do things that bring bad consequences. The parent child relationship is used so that we might comprehend but our way of parenting is not the same thing that God does with us. God has chosen to give us the choice to sin or to obey and we reap what we sow. What sort of time out are you talking about? Are we sitting in the corner or something?

First of all you answered your own question. God does not punish us more when we are in time out, we punish ourselves. When God puts us in time out that the time he needs to talk to us, and sometimes we don't listen to him. and we are his children. Think about it when our parents use to tell us why we are on punishment and how we can correct whatever we are being punished for least mine did. That's the way God is we just don't listen sometimes,

God does not punish us for our sins here on earth. We
reap what we sow. We pay our dues here for past sins
we have committed. Remember the paralyzed man in the
Bible. Jesus said to him; "Take up your bed & walk, thy
sins are forgiven thee" He was paralyzed due to his sins
not God's punishment. God is Just. He allows us to receive what we have given unto this world. His only punishment is banishment to Hell for eternity & even that is by our own choice whether we choose Him or the devil.

Jesus paid the price for God's judgement for all our sins, past, present and future on the cross. God will never punish us for our sins because He has punished all our sins on Jesus. But there are natural consequences flowing when we sin on earth. People who may be Christians indulge in homosexual activities do get aids. This is a result of a natural consequence of their sins it is not God punishing them. Just like when someone jumps from a tall building he dies by the natural law of gravity not because God punish him. So although God will not punish us for our sins our sins will hurt us in the natural. But God has given us His abundance of grace and gift of righteousness to have victory over sin - Rom 5:17. When we are under grace and not under the law sin has no power over us - Rom 6:14. Christians who understand they are righteous and walk under God's grace will not sin. So God has given us the power over sin we must learn how to use it so as not to sin. I hope this is helpful tp you.

I don't think any of it is about punishment. I think it's all about growth. How much would we grow as unique individuals if everything was given to us? How much would be learn if we never had to try? God has given us a grand home to grow up in, it's up to us to make the best of it.
