I wouldn't say that is painful. I haven't undergone such procedure, but some friends did and the expectation of the pain is normal psychological reaction, as every invasive method ( or non-invasive) is perceived as acutely by us. I would say that the risks in laser eye surgery, compared to many other ways of treatment as a whole and types of manipulations is relatively low and you shouldn't be scared.
Hope that is of help.
Have a nice time!

I didn't find it is risky. But it is scary to think because it is your eye. It is not as painful as one would expect. But your eyes will be blurred for few hours to a day. You will keep your eye wet with artificial tears for a period of time and they should be OK after that.

It is a very simple procedure which is generally done in 15 mins time (for 2 eyes). I have gone through it 3 years ago. And I have to say, I am absolutely fine.

My friends were saying that my night vision could get affected. But none of them were true in my instance. And your eye surgeon should conduct some tests whether it is suitable to take a laser surgery or not. Only if good, they should take you through the surgery.

However, the bottom line is after 40 years of age, if you have to get reading glasses, you will end up wearing them. So, you can correct your current vision but not your future one.

Any type of surgery is inherently risky. The way it is done now is so common that the risks are really small. Just make sure you go with a good doctor who has done a lot of the procedures, and don't go to one of the places that advertises. Never use a Dr who advertises, nor a lawyer, there is a reason they advertise, they are not good enough to (or are greedy) get word of mouth or recommendations from other Dr's

My vision is 20/400 which is really bad. There was a time I really wanted to do the Lasik surgery. However, quite frankly, I am quite hesitant now... because of the possible side effects, and the other risks, etc.

I opted to try exercises to see if they would improve my vision. I created a blog so that people can follow my progress. You can check it out at

I recently saw some improvement. Other people (who have also experienced improvements) have posted comments about their experiences as well. You can check it out at: http://improvingmyeyesight.com/blog

Hope this helps...

Lasik and Laser eye surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her dental implants and lasik surgery in India by a company called Forerunners Healthcare. The Price for dental and lasik surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the price she was quoted in America.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India They arrange Dental surgery, jaw surgery, lasik eye surgery, Dental Implants etc for foreign patients in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines- about their patient stories.
They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as dental and eye surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

I personally haven't had it but my mother did. It isn't risking and she said it isn't painful. You just look at this light. By the way it usually only last 4 years.
