Do you feel it is in bad taste to take apart a wedding dress from a first wedding to make a wedding dress for a second wedding to a different man?

Nope, it's called recycling, and the environment says 'thank you'!

Plus, pat yourself on the back for being skilled and creative enough to craft your own dress, even if it's from a previous one. Not everyone can do that. :-)

Its up to you .I would tell my fiance tho rather than let him find out. I had a friend who had bought a wedding dress for her first engagement but, 2 weeks before the wedding she called it off. She really loved the dress and asked her fiance if she could wear it at their wedding and he was fine with it. If the two are you happy don't worry about what anyone else thinks

I do not think that is bad taste I think that is a good idea to tell you the truth. It will save you money and you can get what you want. Plus it is not like you are wearing the exact same dress that you wore the first time. If you was doing that I would say that was tacky and not a good idea. Good luck!!!

I don't know... it might have negative energy from your first wedding. Why don't you sell your first wedding, and with the money you make get a new dress....

It all boils down to how you feel about it--- and in the end it'll just be a dress, but you obviously have some reservations because you're posting a question on yahoo.

I wouldn't want to do it as I would want to start everything over fresh. If it's a money issue then I would try to cut cost in another way but; why would you want to be reminded of your 1st wedding when your are having your special day? You are starting a new life with a new man don't mix old with new. Then maybe you need to ask yourself what is it about this 1st wedding dress you want to hang onto ?KAT

Your life is nothing about the dress...use any fabric and change what wasn't into something magical. It is wonderful that you see value in what no longer would have been considered. You are not about clothes your about the inner beauty. Your a romantic that is frugal. Kudos for taking something old and something new to start a magical new beginning....good luck Honey may you two find your Nirvana !!!

While I applaud your thrift, are you going to dye this dress a different color as well? Because it is in bad taste to wear white for the second go around!

No. If you liked your past wedding dress, and you're redoing it as opposed to just reusing it, why not? Saves alot of money, and you'll have something you know you like that fits.

It's your wedding. Do what you want. Just don't bring the old marriage into the new one. Make sure its ok with the guy, too.

Yes, it's not a great idea. Buy a simple, classy dress for a second wedding (not a full bridal gown).
