No, seriously, I used to have a shot or two of Balleys every night before bed, got an excellent night's sleep every time and got my full 8 hours too. Started doing this a week before finals starting 2nd semester sophmore and pulled a 3.8 for the rest of my time in Berkeley. Never freaked out on exams again (or fell asleep on them).
But only to destress, and only to fall alseep and get an excellent night's sleep. That's what's really important. Obviously, don't drink if you have an addictive personality.

As a teacher, I am always advising students on the strategies of test taking and how to rellax. First, if you know the material, don't over do it. Take some time for yourself. A relaxing warm-to-hot bath of salts and arometherapy (eucalyliptus, jasmine) type of bath beeds can work wonders. If you have the money, invest in a real-live massage just before your test AND after! Meditate, yoga, and or prayers are always helpful ways to relax. Wash your hair, gather some friends together for good conversation and food - it will take your mind off the test. And just go for it. Best of luck to you.

Put on some classical music while you are studying. Although you may hate this type of music, it is actually beneficial for learning. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water. Every hour, go for a stroll around the yard. Speak positive affirmations to yourself e.g. I can do this, I know this!
