as long as the son doesn't care, why do you?

in this society same sex bathing isn't frowned upon, what is the real issue?

if the son starts having privacy issues, then it is time to quit.

i think it is cool that dad cars enough to look for a healthy way to spend regular time with his kid

9 is too old... bath tubs are small and when my daughter was young enough to take baths with me she was just a little baby and she had her own space in the tub. It's one thing to be in a locker room and all the guys taking a shower when they are standing at least a few feet apart but a 9 year old and an adult male can not share a bath tub. I think 3 should be the cut off.

My parents stopped bathing us a few years before we hit puberty, so maybe 9. My Mom stopped giving us baths when we were about 7 but my Dad gave them for a few more years because he was the bubble bath man. I think that 3-4 years before puberty is probably good and always make sure that you have a way of getting into the bathroom in an emergency even if the child is older. As for bathing with my parents, 3 or 4

DANG uhh im gonna say like 2 or 3 should be the cut off age. 12 is way too old. by that age the kid is starting to develop and probably knows all about sex so like thatd just be plain weird and sickening. i mean giving a kid a bath would be different like 7 yrs old tops. but taking a bath with them, ugh.

Assuming the child is not disabled in a way meriting assisted bathing, I think water play should be confined to pools. My cut off would be about half your brother's son's age.

i believe it depends on the situation, i have a 9 yr old son, he is so shy about his body and everything, the only time he will let me near him is if he is sick then he likes the skin to skin contact, we were recently in hospital and the nurses didnt like the fact i slept with no shirt on *private room* but thats because my child is comforted by that contact when ill, i also have a 2 yr old son who is exactly the same, we have never shared a bath unless either of them is sick, water play time should be left to the pool.

nine years old wow no offence but thats a bit disturbing...children can bathe by themselves at the age of four so i would say the cuttoff age should be 3 and if there under 7 let them in the tub by themselves and leave the door open just incase they need you.....

Is your brother Michael Jackson?

I never once climbed in the tub with my children. Before they were old enough to learn how to do it themselves, I would sit outside the tub and wash them.

Once they get to the age they realize the difference between boys and girls, it is probably early enough for them to wash themselves.

My grandson is 3 years old and he can name body parts; he is very inquisitive and ask a lot of questions. I think bathing with a 9 year old is over the limit.

I NEVER got into the tub with my son. My father NEVER got into the tub with me when I was little. Privacy is something that should be honored. Still in the tub, and your child is age 9 - sorry, but you need serious help buddy.
