things aren't going as you hoped. I found myself crying in the shower the other day. I know why though, I totally bombed my pharmacology exam and then broke down crying in front of the teacher when she handed my my grade. I don't think I was so upset about the grade, as I was having the total melt down in front of her.
Good news is that even though I felt like crap when it was all happening and I was totally drained afterwords I went to sleep and felt better when I woke up. Not at 100% but much better than before.
I think the crying thing is a natural reaction for us girls when we are on emotional overload. We don't know why or even slightly have an understanding to why we are crying but our body knows its time for a mental release.

Actually I just learned this myself so I'm excited to tell you. Crying is caused by Prolactate, its a hormone in your body. The higher your levels are the more likely you are to cry. But to further answer your question, stress is exactly why your crying. Most things in our bodies have a specific function and the function of tears are to get rid of stress. It has been studied and found that when we cry we are actually releasing stress hormones. That's why, for the most part after we're done crying we feel a little bit better.

It happens to me sometimes. If this happens often, then you might have to worry and by often, I mean several times a day. I think it's the stress and sometimes a good cry is a good way to relieve the stress. It works for me whenever I'm stressed out.
So it's normal, unless you start feeling really depressed, then you might want to talk to someone you can trust about it.

Richard Cory:
WHENEVER Richard Cory went down town,
We people on the pavement looked at him:
He was a gentleman from sole to crown,
Clean favored, and imperially slim.
And he was always quietly arrayed, 5
And he was always human when he talked;
But still he fluttered pulses when he said,
"Good-morning," and he glittered when he walked.
And he was rich—yes, richer than a king,
And admirably schooled in every grace: 10
In fine, we thought that he was everything
To make us wish that we were in his place.
So on we worked, and waited for the light,
And went without the meat, and cursed the bread;
And Richard Cory, one calm summer night, 15
Went home and put a bullet through his head.

Yes, stress can make you break you down, esp if you are suffering from depression. Is there a history of depression in your family?
Sometime PMS or diet changes can cause it too. When I am on a low carb diet I am more depressed.

Are you on birth comtrol?? Is it close to time for your period? Hormones are evil and us women have it so hard sometimes because of those damn things!! If it continues and you come to when you cannot function or enjoy things you normally did, if you don't care or don't want to get out of bed and do anything, thats when it's time to seek meds and counseling!!!

I cry for no reason at all when I am about to start my period, or when I have not gotten enough sleep.

geez look at all the chicks above me.
I'm a guy. (duh).
Here's my theory: chicks are wired to be addicted to emotion. You're all like crackheads, except you're emotionheads. Drama queens. You get the idea.
So my guess is, you're probably just fine, you just had a typical busy high-stress day, and now that it's over you're releasing and your preferred drug is tears.
Guys like sports. Beat the crap outta something or someone.
Just my .02
