Do you find the Olympics boring?
I equate sports with the Olympics. The players are the best in the world at what they do. They've devoted years of their life to the study and training for their sport.
It honors them for the fans to be excited, buy tickets, watch them play.
The announcers are the same in any sport; knowledgeable about the players and their stats, filling dead air with their commemtary. In golf when the greenside announcer is so quiet, it's because a shot is about to be made.
Golf is a difficult game for beginners. Getting a little ball 400 yards into a little hole isn't for everyone, but then neither is rocket science!
I'll admit, I only watch golf when Tiger plays, but that's because he the very best that's ever been, and it's such a thrill to see him break another record!

It is a sport of emotional passion. Either you love it, or you hate it. There is no neutral ground.
I hate it. The game is also setup to be only for people who have a lot of money. I asked a local golf course how much to play. It was $20 everytime you walk on the course. And then if you get a hole-in-one, you have to buy drinks for everyone at the clubhouse.
I don't drink and I could not afford those prices!!

It depends if your a fan of Pro golf. It's like any other sports where the viewer doesn't understand the game or event. Also knowing the players and it's history. Playing the game would also increase the attention span.

I can relate to the asker of this question....when I didn't play golf, I used to watch it (and baseball), because it would always put me to sleep.
However, then I took some golf lessons and gave it a try. The game is incredibly tough and fun. After trying it, it gave me a whole new perspective and I love watching it on TV now.

Golf isn't a physical game. It is more of a mental game. Kinda like chess. There are some good golf movies like "The Legend of Badger Vance."

Hey , dont knock it , its healthy to watch golf , it puts you to sleep for a nice relaxing afternoon nap.
If you have trouble sleeping put a golf tape on.
For the most part the Majors are the best to watch.

For me, it's the announcers that make it so boring...and all those interviews...
I recommend watching only on Sundays (the final round) and only if the tournament is coming down to the wire. Too often the ending is anti-climatic.
Give it a try...and good luck.

It's not really boring. You just think you're bored because you are almost asleep. That is because of the hypnotic voices of the announcers. It's a scientific fact...
