That's probably a good idea. They really *should* have info on products to say it's halal just like there's kosher food. Makes perfect sense to me.

These products should list the ingredients for All consumers, not just religious purpose but issues of health concerns as well. Many people have no idea lard contains animal fat, it should be spelled out for all.

Yes, I did buy a book such as the one you mentioned a while back. I think gelatin is the culprit in many of the food products.

salaam,
this surprised me as well sister. i went to a gas station a couple weeks ago and the man who owns it (who is Muslim) told me i shouldnt buy the Little Debbie sweets i had b/ they contained pork in the shortening. i had no idea. i will definitely get the book you suggested. i wrote a letter a year ago to the Jewel corp to tell them they should begin selling halal meat(many other grocers in my area carry halal products since we are in an area w/ a strong Muslim population)... they haven't gotten back to me yet :)

Sakina

Though I'm not muslim, I do avoid foods that fall into the category of Kosher or Halal because of allergies I have towards foods that are not processed by those standards. I often think that my allergies were common in those days leading to the dietary rules.

I will ring your doorbell and run away!!!

God will forgive those who are not able to access halal foods (meat killed correctly) where we live (especially in the United States). If one does have access to halal meat they should eat it instead.

These kinds of procedure are teaching people comparsion to other creatures but was used by people to be their income. All the darmas will have 2 faces of facts. One side is good to people and others is good to the one who tell this story.
