Schnauzers-sweet babies that don't bark. Very friendly in a non-jumpy way...

That totally depends on you. How much time do you have to spend with your dog? How much room do you have? What do you want the dog for? (guard, love, fun)

Here's a great site that will get you thinking about what breeds work for you.

I have a doodle (1/2 golden retriever, 1/2 standard poodle) and it's the perfect dog for my family. I've also had a pomeranian, retired racing greyhound, cocker spaniel, border collie and a few very mixed breed dogs and each of them was right for me at the time in my life when I had them.

The pom was not a family dog, it only wanted to be with me. The greyhound was like having a really big sleepy cat. The border collie was smarter than I am and was the best dog I've ever had and the most work.

It's so important you get the right kind of dog for the life you lead because it's unfair to bring a dog into your life if you can't give it what it needs.

Every dog has some pros and cons. I have a welsh corgi, and they are great because they don't need as much exercise or food as a big dog, they're trainable, friendly and people loving, and oh so cute! They're also short, which is nice because when they jump on you they don't hurt you or knock you over, and they can't steal food off the table. But they're very bossy and like to bark allot, and they can't really hike or swim with you. A German shepherd is another wonderful dog to have. My aunt has been raising them all their life, and they're beautiful, athletic, strong, gentle, extremely smart, and one of the most trainable dogs around. But they're bigger, so they need more room, exercise, and food than a smaller dog. Think about how much room and time you have, and how much exercise you'd be willing to give it each day. If you're really active and like to hike and travel alot, a German shepherd or another big, active dog would be your perfect companion. But if you're not a real athlete and you stay at home allot, go for more of a calm, smaller dog.

Depends on the personality of the ownver? Non-shedding breeds are lower maintenance, but need grooming.........re-ask question with the kind of personality you want from your dog: demanding; high enery; very playful; very laid back; a lap dog; a guard dog; a super obedient dog........be more specific you'll get a wider better range of answers. (SHNAUZERS DO BARK: Mine is my mini guard dog......i know if anyone is coming including myself because she barks like a madwoman.......and this is my 2nd shnauzer....they are great watch dogs BECAUSE they do bark alot.

This choice depends on the individual and living arrangements since there are so many breeds to choose from. Of course my favorite is the Doberman Pinscher, intelligent, protective, devoted, elegant and loving.Grooming is also low maintenance.

Small short haired dogs are best.

-Less flea problem
-Less hair shedding
-Small size is easier to keep and maintain
-No danger dog could seriously hurt anyone
-You'll love it just as much as a big dog

well it depends on who is getting it to decide what is best. What is best for me might be not so good for you. I love little fat bulldogs, there my favorite dog but you might hate them, so its all up to what you like and where you live and if you have little kids or anything

They are all wonderful!

I like muts - get them at the Humane Society or animal shelter. I have a wonderful Humane Society alumnus sitting beside me as I type: my spotted four legged "so"

For dog show, go for the purebred.

For house keeping, go for the mongrel (They are healthy and need least "maintenance")
