I believe in lots of stuff. Just not God.
As for why not, it's because I'm clever enough to make a distinction between what is comforting and what is true.

An atheist like me doesn't believe in God. There is a lot I do believe in but it all actually has some evidence to back it up.
You probably feel exactly the same way I do about Ra, Thor, Zeus, Bacchus, Mars, Venus, Oden and any one of the thousands of other made up deities that have been around over the years. It is really easy to see how absurd it all is when you look at it that way. I just include one god that you don't. And there is exactly the same evidence and arguments for ALL the others. So on what basis did you chose?

I believe in Jesus Christ, the holy spirit and God who are 1 in the same. God bless
When ever I call on Jesus he is always there for me even though I can not see him. The difference with God and Man is: Man will have your back sometime, God will have your back all of the time. He is there when no one else is. I also know that he is a perfectionist and never makes mistakes not even with you and I. If you've ask him to "let you make it through the day" don't get mad when night time comes and you can't go to sleep, or if you wake up the next morning and your problems aren't resolved. This is only because you ask him to let you make it through that day, when you should have asked for what you really wanted. GOD REMOVE MY PROBLEMS. Whenever you pray there is no specific way to do it just talk to him like you would talk to your best friend or someone you know who will listen without giving you grief. Remember alot of times when your first thought come that is usually him speaking to you. HE HAS MY BACK WHEN NO ONE ELSE DOES. READ MATTHEW 26

Apparently you're confused. Atheist means to lack a belief in god or gods. It doesn't mean in the least that we believe in nothing, it simply means that believing in something that cannot be proven, and that scientific proof usually directly contradicts, seems relatively .. ridiculous .. to us.
I believe in many things. I believe in the human kindness, right along with human stupidity and ignorance. I believe in the potential for peace, although it will likely never be realized. I believe in my children, my parents, my friends and myself.
I don't need to believe in a god that cannot be proven in order to be a good person and have an enjoyable and full life, and I feel incredibly sorry for those that do.

I'm finding more and more people actually believe the same things as me, yet it is not actually a religion as such. I don't believe in the GOD that Christians and catholics do, but I do believe in Mother nature as a god. I also believe in reincarnation and doing the right thing to others. Also karma. I believe in the power of positive thought as opposed to prayer and Ill attach this verse that pretty much sums it up.

I don't believe in God right now because I'm going through an existential crisis. As for what I believe in, I really want to believe in God and Jesus or even Mohomed or Vishnu (sorry if I spelled those wrong) but right now it all seems so hopelese. Btw, check out existenial crisis on wikipedia, it's kinda cool :)

I believe in many things, just not the mythology of any gods. What don't you believe in spelling, grammar, and actually using letters. All of this u, n e, r u is annoying to read. What is the great time saving in typing u instead of you? Or n e instead of any?

don't believe in anything because i am an atheist?? anyone smart enough or with enough intellect not to believe in cruel fairy tales is usually capable of critical thought and as such there's plenty to believe in this world. and why would one want to believe in a cruel and vengeful entity anyway?
i'm going around to tony's place to pray to his god pumpkin - it will yield the same results as praying to anything else including imaginary gods.
(ps sorry tony, we've never met and i won't just drop in but love the god pumpkin - like all the other gods he doesn't answer prayers but tastes damn fine. he's my saviour!)

I am an Atheist, which doesn't mean that I don't believe in anything. I just don't believe in the existance of any god. My story of becoming an Atheist is in my last blog entry if you care to read. http://360.yahoo.com/erica_cavazos86
