3500 is what any human biology class will tell you. That doesn't mean you can starve yourself for 2 days and lose fat. BASICALLY that means if you cut out 500 cals a day, you should theoretically lose a pound a week - a perfectly acceptable and healthy rate of weight loss.

depends on how much you weight to start with

120-140 eat around 15-1800 calories plus excersise 30 min a day

140-170 eat around 16-1900 calories plus excersise 30 min a day

plus you really need to eat healthy and smaller protains don't overdo anything, stay away from fastfood, greasy foods, fried food, add more fruits and vegetables

also it is important not to skip meals, because then your body will store your next meal as fat. it is better to eat 5 good meals aday.

breakfast with in an hour of waking up
mid morning snack 3 hrs after breakfast(snack- fruit or nuts or granola bars or vegetables or yogurt)
lunch 2-3 hrs after mid morning snack
mid day snack 3 hrs after lunch
diner or supper 2-3 hrs after mid day snack

watch your portions and what you eat make sure you drink water instead of soda also walk when possible)

plus eating breakfast helps lose weight, since i have started eating breakfast about 1 month ago every morning i have lost and kept off 8lbs
