I heard from someone that when, for example, building a computer, you have to be careful because your clothing produces static that can damage sensitive components. I think its bologna, but then again I don't know.

You can definitely build up enough of a static charge to damage electronic components. The usual procedure is to work on a grounded surface and connect yourself to it with a wrist strap. Lacking that, wear cotton and touch the computer chassis to ground yourself before touching any circuit components.

You may have to be sensitive to work with naked equipment.

They have straps that ground you out so there is no static shock. Working in the nude is free though.
