Why is it that my Lab mix makes sneezing noises everytime I get down to her level (on the floor) to play with her? She puts her butt in the air, front paws out in front of her, tail wagging fiercely, playful look on her face, but then she shakes her head and makes these sniffly sneezy sounds. It's only when she plays with people though, and not with our other dog.

Is it some form of playful communication? She's not really sneezing, it's almost like a snort...

Um, no. No carpet in my house anywhere.

It's called the "play bow" and all canines do it-it's how they indicate they want to play. My dog bows like that and does a sort of throaty "woof" sound, not like a regular bark-when he's ready to play.

ARE you playing on the carpet? She might be reacting to dust. SEE if she does it on the bare floor or outside. lol

this is perfectly natural - it is a playing sign - all dogs do it and the sound is natural as well
Keep playing with her - they love it
