No, absolutely not. There are different official sign languages from country to country. Did you know American Sign Language is more like French and Japanese Sign Language than British?

Also, there are regional "dialects" and "accents", as well as various slang terms and "home signs" known only to families, friends, and/or classes. My brother and I are hearing, but we devised a "home sign" language so we could hold a conversation without others knowing it, and our spouses and some of our very close friends "speak" our special home sign, too. (We think our mom also understands it, but she won't tell us!)

Sign languages develop specific to their communities and is not universal. American Sign Language is similar to Old French Sign Language. It shouldn't be equated to "english" though. Americal Sign Language is very different from, say, British Sign Language.

No. What is "spoken" (signed) in the US is called American Sign Language. Other nations have other signs for different words based upon culture, although many signs are probably very similar.

No! and I am deaf. I should know. Please tell everyone you know hearing that. Makes life simpler in our world. It is not even the same in all variations in America. And you should know deaf world wide are a lot more tolerant of each other than you hearing LOL. We exchange signs we like and eventually they grow into the mainstream sign language in different countries.
