HAHAHAHA.... if we were all just so honest, don't we all wish she would, you don't need therapy. LOL

I haven't answered the question yet. I'm trying to rack my brain and come up with something that won't get buried under 34000 answers. Sure. Actually, I am.
Of course I hope she would give me the money - I'd love to spread it around because the Pay It Forward theme is something I think is really cool. I had a book once that had this kind of message inside it - I sell books on-line, and do you know it sold pretty quickly I think because of the type of book it was and the what the previous reader had said. Hey, that's it! I'm going back to become number 34,859 by now.
Okay, I was only 34,114 or something, and then I came up with a different idea. You know what bums me quite a bit about responses? Not that they're bad, but that so many companies/organizations could step forward just a little bit and make a difference. Let's DO and stop the talking. Hey, and thanks for your question. It's good when someone puts down exactly what's on their mind. That's why you DON'T need therapy. :)

To be honest, I highly doubt the question was more than an advertisement plug for her show. However, it was a great question nonetheless. It made me think and perhaps that's worth more than a $1000 could ever do.
While Oprah has been known to be charitable in unorthodox ways, I highly doubt they'd read through 34,000+ answers to find the best one and give them the money or bring them to the show. I'm willing to bet that the show has already been filmed. This wasn't an essay contest so there will be no "winner" picked. However, if you've been convinced to help someone then the motives behind the question (and the subsequent answers) are unimportant.

Ok...in all reality....I did not think that by answering the question about if we had a thousand dollars and gave it to a stranger...that somehow, magically, Oprah, had the time, or her staff for that matter, would read my posting on a Yahoo site...and no I don't think that you need therapy, because you thought that, wishful thinking on your part, however, if I answered the question on an Oprah question board site (does one even exist?) then perhaps her associates may read it. It never hurts to dream, and by putting out these questions, what can it hurt? Someday, perhaps you will have an extra $1000 and you will have some ideas how to help a complete stranger, what harm can come from thinking about such a thing?

Based upon Oprahs' past record, I believe that she is capable of doing something like that. However, I am more inclined to believe that she is trying to leave this world in a better place than she found it. She is neither underhanded nor deceptive. A marketing genius maybe....but not deceptive. The pay-it-forward philosophy is AWESOME! We should all try to live that way...regardless of whether Oprah gives us $1000 or not. Use your own money; even if it's only $10! Believe it or not, $10 COULD change someone else's life. Give it a shot!

I highly doubt the question was put on here to search for the perfect answer in hopes of actually being selected for anything. I read quite a few of the answers too and I was amazed at how many people wished they could help someone else in need. I think the question was posted to make us think that if we were willing to help others with her money, why couldn't we help others with our own money or time? That question proved, the majority of us have it in us to do what we would like to, but what stops us...should be the real question.

Or did you think that she just might be checking facts? That way she has a lot more stats to prove her point!
No one especially like Oprah would ever track down anyone!!
Get real!

Actually I thought she would select a few best answers, not mine that's for sure, and would get them on her TV show. But actually giving us money, no there is this thing called privacy and I wouldn't give my privacy up for a measly thou,
