This e-coli scare has a lot of people spooked, obviously your parents. E-coli are symbiotic inhabitants of mammal intestines. They can become dangerous in the wrong location, as when excreted. If they are afraid of dog e-coli, then tell them that human infection usually comes from our own e-coli. It may take time for the scare to die down, Another reason, beside the one given by your parents, is that they do not want a dog and are using the e-coli scare as an excuse. Not much can be done there, except a change of heart. E-coli, as any bacteria, is disinfect-able.

First off... your dog doesn't have E-COLI. The FDA would've already tested it and had it pulled if the results came back Positive. A little bit of raw meat won't hurt a dog. What do you think Hot Dogs are? They're raw... until you cook them in the microwave, over fire, or they get boiled in water. But if that doesn't help settle your nerves, then just take him into the vet... That would be your best and, yes, most expensive way about handling your situation...

E-coli is a naturally occuring bacteria in the intestines of all mammals. You already have e-coli! But it's when the e-coli grows out of control that it becomes dangerous. The e-coli an animal has comes out in it's excrement (poop). If you ingest that excrement, you will get sick because the foreign e-coli will grow out of control. You shouldn't have to not have a dog just because you might get e-coli! The only way to get e-coli from a dog is to eat its poop! (Or if you get its saliva in your mouth after it's eaten its own poop!) I don't think you'll have to worry about that! So, tell your parents they're full of 5H17 and get a dog.

Your parents have been terribly misinformed (or have jumped to their own erroneous conclusions.)

ALL mammals (including humans) have E. coli as a normal inhabitant of our intestinal tracts. It is not the same type you hear about that causes the problem in foods. Dogs pose no risk to humans in that regard.

That doesn't mean I recommend going around eating dog feces, however. ;-)

Never heard of that & Iv raised over 60 dogs in 22 years & own 15 now.We have dealt with dogs with diabetes,,epelepsy,,lymphoma,,blood disorders,,parvo,,nervous system,,kidney failure but never heard of a dog with e-coli.
What bacteria? Dogs get dirty but thats what baths are for.And using bleach is a good thing in any household.Iv also read a whole vet encyclopedia before.
