Some cats are content to be babies, some like to be in control of their environment. It's a matter of personality.

Sorry... short of a miraculous change of personality, there is no way you can make a non-cuddling-type cat accept being held and cuddled. Some cats like a lot of touching and cuddling. Some cats don't. My older male cat whom I love very much is such a cat. I can carry him to and from various rooms in the house or back indoors but he will not stay in my arms simply to be petted and cuddled. He doesn't sit on my lap (like my other cat), but he will snuggle with me under the blankets. Its all comes down to the personality of your cat.

I haven't really found a cat that likes to be held very long. My cat love to be pet just not held. He will lay next to me on the arm of the chair or on the couch and let me pet him for hours. Just let your cat come to you. Cats are funny, They think they are the boss, and won't do what you want when ou want.

Same with my cat-so I do not hold her for if I try it just makes her more scared-why some cats do not like being held. or when they were a kitten someone held too tight or bad experience being held etc.My philosophy is if its not necessary if animal does not like makes it feel uncomfortable then I do not force. Since the only way to teach would invilve holding her, which will make her stugle and you hold harder-will just make her dislike more.No way to really get her to like it. Maybe if not forced to or attempted to one day she'll be ok with it. I'd just pet her.Probably has more to do with her not liking to be confined as in being held.

I have owned many different cats over my lifetime and some liked to be held and some did not. Right now I have 3 cats. One loves to be snuggled and held. One likes to be pet-but don't hold him he has a fit and the other one doesn't really like to be touched at all, but she likes to sit on my lap and sleep on my chest at night. I don't know that you will be able to change your girl. Just enjoy petting her and maybe eventually she will like to beheld, but I doubt it.

For the most part, I'm afraid not! Some cats like to be held- others don't. That's just how they are. I have a lapcat- and I also have one that hates to be held.
Sorry I can't help you change your kitty. Good luck!

Well I grew up with 13 cats INSIDE the house so i know more about cats then what i really want to know or ever wanted to know. Cats as they become older choose on person to become close to. and one person only. Especially Cimease Cats. As far as holding cats it just comes with their personality...there is nothing you can really do as a kitten for the most part...obviously the amount of attention you give it will influence the attitude later on but as far as holding it or not is almost impossible to control.
I have one cat that will lay on top of my chest and sleep...he walked up on my deck one day with his claw half way torn out bleeding all over the deck....I never expected to EVER touch him...and he sleeps on me everyday.

be gentle when you pick her up, don't just gran or snatch it.
I always pick her up gently, not hurting her belly or neck. At first she didn't want to, but then she started coming to me for more petting. Just because you feed them or scoop the litter, doesnt mean cats know they are loved.
I pet my cat as regular as feeding and brushing her teeth. Now she cries like a baby if I don't pick her up and hold her.

humm, don't think so, some cats just have that kind of personality. I have two, one loves to sit on my lap and be held, the other, she only likes to be petted.
just pet her and love her anyway, she might come around.
good luck:)

I have a cat just like that, there's no way to hold them and even if they got to scratch the crap out of u, they won't let u hold them. It means they got to much dignity to be held. And there's no way to train them out of it or anything I swear u just can't.
