I do not know if the spelling is even nearly accurate, but I have heard this term used off and on and I cannot determine the general meaning. Any ideas would be great.

foxed gives a good answer here.

The F & H of the two words Flipping Heck do alow someone to utter a mild form of F-in Hell. A bit like going, "Oh, sugar" instead os "Oh sh1t"

'Flippin' 'ek' is Northernese* for 'good grief'; 'oh my goodness', 'dear me' - or - much less politely 'bloody hell!'
Hope you find this useful so that you can use the term in the appropriate place!!

It means the same as "Cor blimey!" or "Would you believe it!" - it's just a term used to express surprise.

And it's spelt flippin' eck, so you were nearly right!

usually spelt "flipping 'eck" or flipping heck.....don;t know where the flipping comes from but the Heck is a derivative of 'Hecate' - a she devil type - referred to in Shakespeare

flipping heck these days means - "oh no"..."I don't believe it"...it's a very very mild term usually used in agreement...not as a "f off" type of word.....

regionally still gets used in the nth of england a lot!
