Hi and Congrats on choosing a Golden to share your life with!!
If you are looking for something original, you could look at your favorite hobbies, favorite books or TV shows and possibly find a name there. Some examples. I know people that enjoy fishing and named their goldens Lindy and Shad. Or if you remember the Andy Griffith Show, Beatrice and Aunt Bea for when she is older. Or if you were a Peanuts fan, Lucy or Sally.
You can also look for names in your area. There is a park from where I grew up and when/if I get a male dog in the future I will name him Ramsey after that park.
Best Wishes to you on finding that perfect name!

We named out retriever puppy after a girl in the kids favorite book 10 years ago "The Magic School Bus". Wanda is now 10 years old.

Make sure the name is not so cute (silly) that you'll feel goofy when you call her after she attempts an escape.

Try a people name because they work for young and old dogs. Ideas: Maggie, Lucy, Amanda, Kristen, Katie, Kate, Olivia, Tracy, Sandy, Felicity. One name I like for a golden retriever is Heidi because Heidi make me think of someone blonde. Other names: Java, Crimson, Ragtime, Dandy, Diablo, Sage, and Safari. If you don't like any of my ideas you can always Goggle Search "Dog Names" and there are tons websights with endless cute dog names.

Everyone else is giving you normal stuff. Here's some out of the box ideas. You'll love them or you'll hate them!:

Mona Lisa
Lady Chatterly
Madame Socrates
Lady Juliet
Dr. Magenta
Baroness Von Peesalot
The Duchess (Your Last Name)
Senator Doom
Chewsie Susie
Lieutenant Lola

Obviously, I like dogs with titles. I own Professor P. Barkenstein.

How about Aurora? Au is the symbol for gold, but if you didn't like calling her 'au' which might be pronounced 'ow', you could call her Rory when she's young and then as she gets more dignified, 'Aurora'.

My Pug Augustine ended up being called Agita-steena-tah-tah-UNtahtah. I mention this as a caution: it is natural to keep adding new endings toi a beloved dog's nickname but if you do it will finally take a paragraph just to call her and strangers will think you are raving.

I had a Golden for 10 years and lost her 2 years in the past. I enjoyed that canines like loopy. Her call became Cinnamon and he or she became the final, nicely behaved canines. I actually have a Pug now named Bailey Wrinkles:)

I don't know why, but the name "Heidi" popped into my mind when I read your question. My Rottweiler's name is "Greta" and I named her that when she was 6 weeks old. Next month she will be 11 years old, and is a very dignified older lady.
