Go to www.beliefnet.com. There, you will be able to find a test called "Belief-o-matic". The test selects which religion (out of 26) you most closely identify with, based on 20 (I think) questions regarding morals, ethics, God(s), salvation, rituals, and things of the nature.
http://www.selectsmart.com/FREE/select.php?client=christiandenom <---Similar to the above test I mentioned, this selects your Christian denomination out of 24 denominations.

Congratulations!! Welcome to the family of GOD! Yes the Christian Church is a particular "type" of Church. PLEASE do not allow yourself to get caught up in "religion". Religion,I've heard it said, hangs around at the foot of the cross while Christianity gets up on the cross. The Christian Church is a good Bible believing Church. I,personally go to an Assembly of GOD Church but if I did not know that this particular Church is the one I am supposed to be at then I would go to a Christian Church. The thing to desire here is not a "religious name" or label but rather to desire a relationship with Christ. You will know after a while if this is the right place for you. I started out in a Baptist Church. Just look for Christ, pray and ask HIM to show you where you should be.
BLESS YOU ABUNDANTLY IN JESUS' NAME!

Basic thing; most Christians Believe they a Christian of the Church they go to, because this how they have been mislead. As, mentioned above, you go to a Baptist Church you a Baptist. But, a TRUE Christian is a Child of God, they just go to a Baptist Church, Methodist, Non-Denominational, etc. But, if you a Christian, you a Child of God, that what kind of Christian you are, a Child of God.

HKJ made a good statement. Don't focus on denominations. Actually they don't exist in the Word of God. I dare anyone to challenge this statement. Those are man made off springs of the true church. As far as the Household of Faith is concerned. The true church is the church of Christ. We the people are the church Christ is coming back for in the time to come. Our life is hid in Him. It's not associations, denominations or whatever. If I were you I would find a bible believing church that follows the bible with unprejudice, without compromising to conform to the pastor or the world. I would try to find a non-denominational church. You just be what your desiring to be. A christian which means follower of Christ. No matter where you go always study the word for yourself and pray for a fruitful understanding. Jesus Christ has warned us along with His Apostles that many false prophets, teachers, ministers and false christ have gone into the world to deceive the flock and not sparing them. It is very difficult to find a church where there is not a hidden agenda. Many of today's churches agenda is money, more money, more money, numbers game of how has the biggest church and who has the most of earthly treasures. Don't assess a church by it's size of membership because I could almost guarantee they are not teaching the whole gospel. Don't assess a church by how beautiful it may be because it doesn't amount to a hill of beans in the sight of God. He's coming for a church without spot or wrinkle. That church is you and I along with many others. Be careful and definitely prayful.

The basis of the Christian faith is that Jesus, fully human, fully God, Son of God, died, was buried, was resurrected and through His sacrifice He has paid the penalty for your sins. Your acceptance of His free gift is what makes you a Christian. Ask the pastor of several churches in your area Who Jesus is and what is necessary for salvation. If they add or subtract from His grace, it's not the church for you. If they acknowledge Jesus correctly, then you can attend and see if it fits your personality. Some churches are very open with lots of praising and hand clapping while others are quieter - it's a personal choice on how you choose to worship the Living God.

If it's not a certain "type" of church, then you will be attending a "nondenominational" church. If you do not want to be involved in a particluar denomination (Baptist, Catholic, etc.), then you are also "nondenominational Christian".
...and for your first poster: I believe you get baptised in that church in order to become of that denomination.

Sounds like a non-denominational church. I was raised baptist, but I go to a Penecostal/Holiness church now. So I concider myself Pentecostal ( what most ppl refer to as a Holy roller) I have nothing against the Baptist faith. I think God leads us to where we can learn the most at different points in our lives. God bless you!!!

It actually all depends on which church you go to! Like me, I went to a Presbyterian church, so I'm a Presbyterian! Now I'm going to a baptist church, so I think I'm could now be baptist!

congratulations!!! How does it feel to have your name written in heaven? Just cling to Jesus, you don't need any denominational labels. If you have accepted Christ and know him as your Lord, your Christian, a follower of Jesus. More often than not people who cling to denominational labels don't know Jesus as their Lord. So I wouldn't worry about it. I do want to add one thing though. Worship styles vary from church to church. So if you do want to classify yourself, you might want to focus on the worship style of the church you attend.

As long as you love God and his precious Son Jesus, and you accept him as your Lord and saviour, and believe that he died for you on the cross at Calvary, and God raised him from the dead after 3 days and confess your sins and turn from them, then you are saved. Stay away from the Mormon Church, also stay away from Jahovah's witness's, also the seventh day adventists stay away from. Baptist churches are good, as I was brought up in one. AOG(Assembly of God) is spirit filled, Christian City Church is a good one too, as long as it is spirit filled, and they preach the true word of God and are accpeting towards you, you should not have a problem. Cathlolic Churches I would not recomend, as they pray to mother Mary, and that I idolitry. God said worship him only. Good luck, and you have made the right desision to become a Christian, as now you are a child of God.
