Alcohol is the biggest depressant. Although it gives you a little euphoria at first it is definitely a downer.
Heroin is a downer, also morphine, codeine. Some drugs affect people differently - percocet (aka oxycocet or oxycodone) can either make you alert or sleepy (depressed.) Same with marijuana - makes my husband wide awake, whereas I gave it up at 16 because it put me to sleep (depressant.)
You can find some really good info at Mayoclinic.com, but I hope you get the answers you need here as searching sites like that can be depressing in and of itself.
Cheers!

Alcohol, opium, PCP, barbituates, ketamine, nitrous oxide, "Lunesta" and most drugs that make you "relax" or go to sleep qualify as depressants.
If you really want every drug, there's a long list including brand names at this link.

Why don't you do an online search for them and see what you find.
I know of more antidepressants than depressants.

I take Effexor XR. But what ever you do, dont take it. It has withdrawals from hell! Attempting to wing yourself off of them to change to another antidepressant is horrible! and if you forget to take it you feel like total sh*t!!!
