Little boys and girls........?

What is the diffrence in little boys and little girls......specifically 4 year olds? i'm writting a comparison essay and need more info. THANKS!

At this age, I don't think there is much difference at all. They are still about the same size and enjoy the same toys (boys like "girly" stuff and vice versa). They've reached similar milestones. I would say that by this age they NOTICE that there are differences between boys and girls, but that those differences are primarily in appearance. My daughter (who is 4) has noticed that boys pee standing up, but doesn't really understand why she CAN'T (even though she knows she lacks the proper "equipment"). And she has specifically stated that she does not like boys, but will also list names of the boys in her class that she likes. They really seem the same to me, just with different haircuts and clothes.

Some people will say that boys are more aggressive and/or louder, but this does not appear to be true in my experience. My 2-year-old daughter is the class bully, and so LOUD. And there are plenty of polite, quiet boys in the 4-year-old class.

I have a girl and a boy. They were very different as toddlers.
My daughter was very chatty and sociable. My son was more active. He really kept me running! When he turned 5 my husband and I looked at each other and said Wow, has it been only 5 years? He was a bit harder. Had my daughter been that hard, she would be an only child. LOL. My daughter actually took naps. She did not find electric outlets as appealing. My son would not remember what was a no-no day to day. It was amazing how he could go and go. He had less interest in toys.He had his share of emergency room trips. I would say he was more of the explorer and she was more of a planner. They were both great but totally different.

At 4 years of age, its very easliy apparent that little boys and little girls are a product of their parents ideals of what raising each means to them, as well as the observations made by the child on how they see there parents to be.

Meaning, daddy will treat his little daughter like the little princess, or like a tomboy, and at 4 years old, youll either see a prissy little girl who was raised as such, or a tough little girl who daddy raised as a little boy. As well as the influence mommy anddaddy have. If a little girl sees mommy cooking andcleaning and daddy playing sports with little brothers then that will have an influence on her one ay or the other -- depending n whether daddy allowed her to interact with the guys activities.

But at 4 or 8 or in their teens, How parents treat, and how the child observes will effect the differences in their behavior.

So your paper is really on parenting styles and the reflection they have on a child, not merely the difference between boys and girls.

Well, I was asked this question before and I must say that apart from the apparent physical differences, their natural likings and behaviour are very different. I have a 4 year old boy who just turns 5 and he just loves playing balls, guns and "kongfu" though it was never really encouraged. He is also more active and easy going as compared to my daughter. I guess it is inborn. Boys also tend to be more emotionally attached to their mother.
