Some of your earlier respondants were misinformed.

According to several studies, hepatitis C is not sexually transmitted in a monogamous relationship. There is some hint that it may be transmitted in non-monogamous sex, but that may be due to sharing toothbrushes or razors the morning after. Unless blood is exchanged during sex, it is incredibly unlikely that the disease would be transmitted.

Hep C is a blood-borne disease. Don't use his toothbrush, razor, or comb because of possible trace amounts of blood. If he cuts his finger, let him put the Band-Aid on himself. Avoid coming into contact with anything that might have his blood on it.

Discourage your boyfriend from using alcohol or Tylenol, and encourage him to follow his doctor's advice.

Hep C is the most contageous form. Stay very protected as there is no cure and it is a degenrative disease. My mother in law has it and is on lots of meds and has a very compromised immune system because of it. Be careful.

Hep C is transmitted through blood to blood contact. The greatest risk is sharing IV drug needles. It can be transmitted through sex, but it isn't that efficient of a mechanism to transmit it. A latex condom should protect you from it. Other than than, normal, daily activites put you at no increased risk for disease.

It is rare to pass it sexually in a monogamous relationship. "They say" the odds are a few percent, and that's just to cover their ***; it may in fact be coming from the NIH, but how trustworthy is that now, with the doctors on the corporate take? I know a guy who had three children and neither his wife nor his children got it even though he had it unknowingly during the time of conception.

Yes my dear, very contagious. The best thinng that you can do know is to go get yourself checked out. And whatever you do DO NOT have unprotected sex. Some othe qts you may want to ask him is how long he's had it befor he told you and how he got it. Also it is important that he himself is getting appropriate medical treatment.

Hepatitis C virus is transmitted through bodily fluids, such as through sexual intercourse (a lot like HIV).
Is it going to affect you? It could wreck your life if you catch it from him! Have sex with this man at your own peril!
