I have a border collie/beardie cross who has hip dysplasia. I have been giving her Syn-Flex (Glaucosamine/Condroitin) every day since June and the results are amazing. She used to have trouble getting up or jumping. Now there's no stopping her. I have recommended this to a friend's dog who was even worse and now she swears by it. Check out the website for more info.

Ten Grand??? What vet are you going to? Around here, the cost for complete hip replacement is well under $5,000.
Call your local animal shelter and ask for other, responsible, qualified vets for second, third opinions.
If there is no other choice, give the dog an aspirin, plain, pure aspirin, every 12 hours. No Tylenol, Advil, etc.
I hope you can find a solution that doesn't include putting your dog down, but if there is no other choice, I hope you are strong enough to go the distance with your dog, petting him as the vet inserts the needle. Sticking with him through the last minutes is the hardest thing you will ever do, but being with your dog during this time will help him immeasurably.
***Not aimed at you, the questioner, but aimed at all those people who think 'designer' dogs, aka mixed breeds, don't have genetically inherited problems...the dog in this question, who has a fatal problem, is solid evidence that the so-called 'hybrid' vigor is a total myth.

It is caused from arthritis it is always predominant in those breeds when the get old .I dont know for sure if this will help or not but it hasn't been tried in dogs to my knowledge .But there has been amazing results with arthritis from bee sting therapy in people .Actully its an old remedy that had been kind of forgotten with high tech medicine .But the new medicines break down peoples immune system so much that some studies now say that bee stings are better .If you just type bee sting therapy in your seach on the net you will get plenty of information on it .I dont know if this will help but at the point your at with your dog it cant hurt anything .Good luck

you need to contact your vet for a dog medication. Do not give your dog any human medication....you could kill your dog.
