The Revelation of Jesus Christ was written by the Apostle John in 95 A.D.
First, second and Third John were written 90-95 A.D.
The Gospel according to John was written 85-90 A.D.
John would have been approximately between 80 and 100 years old during this time.

As far as I can tell from reading the bible that John, who is commonly known as John the Revellator is the same John who was the author of the last of the four gospels. Even though Revelations is the last book of the new testament, was evidently written a few years before some of the books of the new testament was written.

Peter asked Jesus what would happen to John, and Jesus would not give a straight-forward answer.

Jesus did say that there would be ONE disciple who would not be killed or murdered and that person was JOHN.

The reason why John was not killed, is because he was chosen to write the book of Revelations.

John was exiled onto the island of Patmos where is wrote the book of Revelation and live his last days.

THERE IS NO WAY IT COULD BE PAUL AS MENTIONED ABOVED IN ANOTHER ANSWER, PAUL WAS EXECUTED UNDER EMPEROR NERO, WHICH THIS WAS AT THE TIME OF THE BURNING OF ROME AND THE PERSECUATION OF THE CHRISTIANS.

Scholars don't know. Some believe the same John wrote the Gospel, the three epistles, and Revelations, but not all do. There is no documentable evidence that this is the case, but it may very well be.

Those who study Biblical things say that it was John the apostle, who was the last living disciple, and probably the only one to die of natural causes.
