Going a long time in between trims, thermal damage (blow drying or straightening), and chemical damage all cause split ends. You need a trim, the longer you go without one, the worse they'll get and you'll have to cut off more to get rid of 'em.

why would you pull apart your split ends? Get them trimmed. For those people who have split ends, if you don't trim them they will go uo your hair shaft to your follicle. nothing but getting them trimmed will fix it. all the shampoos, etc just cover it up! Take my advise.

natural wear and tear-blowdryers, irons, environment-there is no way to prevent split ends...only way to get rid of them is to keep your hair regularly trimmed. and don't pull them apart!!! silly
