There are only 54 verses that mention hell in the Bible. It is a misrepresentation of God's character to suggest that He will sentence people, even the wicked, to an eternity of burning. No verse suggests that this will happen. There will be punishment but no eternal suffering. It is a false teaching that has done a lot of damage.

Spot on! Hell in the Bible refers to the state of death, and the Bible even states that at death "his thoughts do perish". No, you will not find anyone you will be able to give you clear cut proof that the Bible says anything about eternal damnation! And a great question! Maybe this will give so-called "Christians" the impetus they need to actually read the Bible for once instead of having all the crap and prejudice spoonfed to them at church!
Happy Hunting!

The place that even remotely suggest it is:
Matt.25:31-34.41,46

EVERLASTING FIRE PREPARED FOR THE DEVIL AND HIS ANGELS

Job 38:4-7 Angels here before earth was prepared for man.
Rev.5:11 Angels are vast in number.
Angels did sin before the flood. Luke 20:34-36 they do not die.Jude 6; 1Pet.3:18-20; 2Pet.2:4; THEY SEEN TO BE WAITING IN COMFORT AND JESUS WENT TO VISIT THEM, 1Cor.6:2,3 They are judged by the saints.

Luke 16:14-31; Jesus is showing the heart of the Pharasees' religious beliefs, the rich man goes to Abraham bosom, let the poor man lye on the street and do not lift a finger to help him, the word says all are blessed by Abraham. So he put the begger where the rich man thought in his religion, he woul be.
Abraham's bosom is not heaven. Luke 16:16,17,29,31 GIVES THE TRUTH AND IF IT IS NOT IN THE BIBLE, LOOK FOR IT ELSE WHERE
LOOK FOR IT WHERE PROPLE DO NOT KNOW THE BIBLE LIKE THE PHARISEES
THE DEAD ARE OPPOSITE TO LIFE. Mark 9:42-48 is the city dump of Jerusalem, seeing
how Christ was treated, one can only imagine who or what got death and burial by fire or burial by fire. It was once as 2Cor.28:1-4; says also: Jeremiah 7:30,31,19:2-5;

The soul has the spirit of God as life, take away the spirit James 2:26 and the body will not function and here with soul as whole being born in sin, spirit of life can not be for long, but salvation can be.

AT MY DEATH I WILL BE IN THE SAME GRAVE KING DAVID IS IN A SEPULCHRE HELL
Acts 2:27-31; A cave, a tomb or a grave.

Actually, most of the real argument is whether a God who is Absolute Justice - as well as Absolute Love - could retain His character and not punish eternally those who have rejected Him for Eternity.
Then add argument over the Greek words "aionoos" (?) - endless- and "basanios" (?) - punishment -, used to describe the punishment and the "Lake of Fire" and you can argue there is NO punishment, or it is finite. These are the Greek originals of most New Testament references in the verses you refer to.
"Universalists" argue there is nobody who goes to "Hell", though some accept a degree of punishment for 'baddies' before going to "Heaven".
7th Day Adventists + Jehovah's Witnesses, among others, argue on the 'endless'. After differing degrees of punishment, all sinners + the Devil + his angels will be 'obliterated'. Since they are obliterated 'forever', their punishment is 'eternal'!
The expressions of Jesus and the New Testament writers are consistent with 'aionoos' + 'basanios' meaning endless, ongoing, punishment. With Jesus - it is supposed - being the Incarnation of God, when He said "their worm dieth not" and "where their fire is never quenched", then - tied in with the normal usage of the two words - He can only be referring to a continuing state for Eternity.
(Why keep fires burning and worms living when there is no need - part of God's character is also being "The Fount of All Reason" - and that's not reasonable.)
You raised God's character in your question. I raised it in my opening. I don't understand, as a flesh-bound human, how it can be "right", except in terms of the whole picture.
God didn't just create you and me from our births to our deaths, to live and die. He created the universe.
As Absolute Love, He wants Creation to share Eternity with Him.
As Absolute Justice, He has to punish those who reject Him for Eternity - for Eternity. It may seem unfair to our human natures, but He is looking at all of Time.
And it is admitted that the imagery may be just that - that, in fact, "Hell" is sharing the Eternity of the Saved/Blessed/'Whatever You Call Them', but alone; in the dark (not lit by the Glory that fills the New Jerusalem); and, ultimately, knowing God is not with you! [Apt to remember, as Christmas approaches, that the Child to be born would be "Emmanuel" - "God With Us"!!]
I, personally, pray He has found some way around it, but the Greek - properly translated - does actually work for an endless punishment of conscious beings.

Yeah, truly, the bible says that death and Hades(greek note for hell) will be thrown into the Lake of fireplace that is hte 2d death at Revelation 20; 13 and 14. what's exciting about Gehenna , which some bibles mistakenly translate as hell, is that in straight forward words the useless bodies of criminals were thrown, so no residing creature change into burned alive, besides the actual undeniable actuality that this occurred later in the course of the inquisition and witch trials. Edit: Scriptureman is making use of a parable to teach a level. the actuality is that one little drop of water does no longer truly help someone in burning torment , so the tale might want to be speaking about something else. human beings also ignore that Jesus himself change into in hell for 3 days yet he compared it to being in the tummy of a whale like Jonah change into.
