I'm not going to endorse a brand of cat food here, but I will tell you that the worst smelling poop comes from Chicken Soup for the Cat Lovers Soul and Purina ONE. There are others along the way too.

I finally found a brand that is great for my cats, actually results in smaller stools, and has almost no odor, even for the ones that don't cover.

By all means, avoid the kind you can buy in the grocery store. There is one that used to be sold only at Vet's Offices, they then expanded to pet food stores, and now it's available at grocery stores, and, apart from the fact that I've never found a cat who actually liked it, it is crap with a fancy name.

If she isn't covering her poop, then a scoop of litter over it helps. Cleaning the box out at least once a day is a must. The scoopable litters are best at odor control.

I hope that helps.

She could have an allergy to something in the food. Just because it's the same flavor doesn't mean it has the same ingredients. Most manufacturers of low end cat food keep costs down by changing the grain content during the year. More corn when corn is cheaper, more wheat when wheat is cheaper, you get the idea. If your cat is an indoor only cat, the likelihood of worms is somewhat small, but could happen. But, for your kitty's health, take her to her vet - tell them what's going on. Oh, and they'll want a stool sample. Hope she's OK

Hi there...many of the commercially available cat food products sold in supermarkets contain corn, corn meal which ferment as it broken down within the digestive system leading to very stinky poo. However, this also depends on the animal's genetics as well. Like humans, when two people eat the very same thing one person's business may stink to high heaven moreso than another (we can't compare our own poo since we'd obviously be biased.) I have two cats who's genetic makeup are quite different from one another (F1 Bengal --1/2 wild & 1/2 domestic -- and Abyssinian). They both eat the same identical high premium quality foods yet the Bengal's poo is so strong it would make a good substitute for chloroform, where the Aby's isn't so bad and is very tolerable.

Some of the high protein cat foods (which contains no corn based products or byproducts) found only at specialty pet stores such as Innova EVO, Life's Abundance, Nature's Variety Prairie may help minimize the stinky calling cards, but again it truly depends on the cat's genetic makeup. They are quite expensive compared to the supermarket brands, but if your intended goal is to lower the overall gas chamber effect you may need to experiment which works best.

Do you mean "stink?" All poop stinks- except you get to flush yours down the toilet and not smell it anymore. Just clean out the cat box a few times a day and sprinkle cat box deodorizer on top of the litter. (PS... if she doesn't bury her poop it stinks a lot more lying on top. Every cat has different habits)

Once I switched my girls over to a high quality canned food, things improved immensely! Not only is it less stinky, it's darker, smaller and less frequent.

I feed one Natural Balance Venison and Green Pea, and the other gets Wellness Turkey or Eagle Pack Chicken and Lamb.
