Disgustingly Rich Brownies
16 brownies, if only 14 make it to the plate, I won't say anything
Ingredients:
2 cubes (1 cup) butter
3/4 cup cocoa powder
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1-1/4 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Preparation:
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees, then smear the inside of an 8 or 9-inch baking pan with shortening.
Melt the butter over a low heat. Watch it. It’s easy to burn.
In your mixing bowl, stir the cocoa and sugar together. Then stir in the melted butter. Add the eggs and vanilla, and stir again. Now add the flour and salt, and mix just until smooth. Not too much. (If you’re adding walnuts, now’s the time.)
Scrape the mixture out into the greased pan and spread out in an even layer.
Bake in a 350-degree oven until the brownies just begin to pull away from the sides of the pan (or until you can stick a toothpick in and pull it out with no batter sticking to it). Takes about 60 to 65 minutes. Let cool before cutting.

This is the best, most fun candy recipe ever. I got it from Family Fun mag.
Waffle pretzels
Hershey hugs or kisses (I use both)
holiday m & m's
lay the pretzels out on a cookie sheet
top with hugs (or kisses)
put in a 275 for a few minutes (3-5), until chocolate has softened a little (hugs will soften faster than kisses)
press one m&m into the top
put in the fridge to cool.
These are a big hit, a little time consuming, but easy and worth it.
great to bag up as gifts or to put in your candy dish at holiday time.

Cherry Delight
Crust:
1 1/4 c graham cracker crumbs
3 tbsp sugar
1/3 c melted butter
Mix these together and press into the bottom of a 13x9x2 pan. If you want something easier, you could use a premade graham cracker crust. You'd probably want to halve the rest of the recipe.
Mix together:
1/2 c sugar
1 8 oz package cream cheese at room temperature
In another bowl:
1/2 c cold milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 envelope Dream whip
Beat well. Fold in cream cheese mixture. Put half of the resulting mixture in graham cracker crust. Add one can cherry pie filling, then remaining mixture on the top. Chill before serving.

These are my favorite ones and when I make them and take them any where I go, I bring home empty pans every time.
Sheet Cake
2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
in a bowl
1 stick of butter
3 1/2 tablespoons of cocoa (if you want white cake..omit this)
1 cup of water
1/2 cup shortening (not oil)
in a pan bring these to a boil
then put in all sugar and flour
add 2 eggs
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon vanilla
mix all this with the above
Pour this into a "sheet cake pan" that has sprayed or greased and floured.
Bake at 400 for 20 minutes
Icing
1 stick of butter
3 1/2 tabelspoons cocoa
1/3 cup of milk
bring to a boil
remove from heat
add 1 teaspoon vanilla
then start adding powder sugar until you get it as thick as you want. Then pour and spread on cake.
This does not have to be put in the ice box BUT if you do some how it will make the cake taste even better.
Corn Flake Candy
1 2/3 cups corn syrup
1 2/3 cups sugar
boil until melted, then remove from heat and add
1 2/3 tablespoons vanilla
2 1/2 cups of peanut butter
Have on stand by and big pan that is coated with butter
and put 10 cups of corn flake cereal in this pan and pour mixture over the corn flakes and mix until flakes are covered.
Spoon out onto wax paper, drops of corn flake mixture. It makes several bite size pieces of candy. The mixture is very hot to handle, so I learned very fast to butter my hands as well as every thing that I use.
Better Than Sex Cake
Mix together
1 cup flour
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 stick of butter
Press in a 9 X 13 pan, bake at 350 for 20 minutes
Mix together in a bowl
8 ounce of cream cheese
1 cup of powder sugar
1 cup cool whip
Spread this over the "crust".
Mix 6 ounces of chocolate pudding
3 cups of cold milk
Beat until thick and spead over the mixture above.
Spread Cool Whip over that and grate a chocolate bar over Cool Whip and sprinkle with nuts if desired.
There won't be any of this left either.
Happy cooking!

We call them Dear Sweet Hazels after my stepmother. She passed last year but had a special way with the deserts. Melt chocolate in a double boiler. Ritz crackers with peanut butter in between, double dipped, and placed on a cookie sheet with WAX PAPER (an important part, I found out) and place in the freezer. These are so good. At first they didn't sound so great, but every time I take them to a potluck they disappear!

This is easy and different. Mix applesauce with your favorite flavor of instant Jello mix (strawberry is my favorite). Layer the applesauce with large rectangles of graham crackers to form a cakelike shape. "Frost" with whipped cream. Refrigerate for a few hours until the applesauce softens the graham crackers. Slice and serve like cake.
