The Star of David wasn't over Bethlehem in December it was actually over Bethlehem in mid March.

1) do you feel Christmas should be moved to March

2) do you think this was placed in December anyway being December 25th was already a holiday the Roman Saturnalia. Not out of spite for the Pagans, but just to keep the holiday after the religious conversion.

1) The appearance of the Star was supposed to be a miraculous event. Tracking naturally repeating occurrences may or may not show anything.

2) I do not feel Christmas needs to be moved. The important thing is that we celebrate Jesus' birth, not that we have the exact day correct.

3) The day of 25 Dec was chosen EXACTLY because of Saturnalia...and much the same reason that Jewish people today give lavish gifts as Hanukkah. Christian leaders (1) wanted their followers to be able to continue in traditions, (2) not be left out of festivities, and (3) convert others.

Well, that would mean the CHurch would need to rearrange the entire liturgical calendar, which could be quite tedious & confusing. Frankly, I don't think it matters WHEN exactly Christ was born, only that we acknowledge it to begin with. I believe Pope Gregory chose December 25 so he could re-claim that date as a Christian festival.

I'm leaning with number 2...

Plus, it's been said that Christians put Christmas there to be able to celebrate the Roman holiday, but not share it with the world....
