My personaly opinion is as long as it's not in a church the go for it. However personally I feel that you shouldn't wear just the strapless inside the church. If your plan was jacket during the ceremony and without the jacket for the reception this I think it's just fine.

This all depends on if who's wedding you will be attending. Is it yours? A close friends? Is it a church wedding? Outdoors? Casual?

In most cases, strapless gowns/dress are what's in fashion. So if you wear a strapless dress and accessorize in a tasteful manner, I don't think there is much of a problem. Keep in mind that most church weddings tend to be conservative, as are many upper middle to upper class weddings. So your jacket may serve that purpose very well.

I hope you will have a wonderful time!

Its fine infact my bridesmaids, aunt, and probably mom are all wearing strapless dresses to my wedding. I'm getting married New Years Eve in Canada (there is about a foot and a half snow outside today) I would wear the jacket to the church and take it off when you feel comfortable at the reception.(check to make sure there are no religious reasons for bride and groom that a Straples's dress may be offensive) PUT THE COAT ON IF GOING FOR THE BOUQUET!!

These days there is no really "appropriate" attire for weddings. Its nice to know that you will actually be wearing a dress. Some ppl rock up to wedding in Jeans, which i think is a giant NO-NO. As long as the strapless dress is elegant rather than trashy, then it will look loverly.

There is nothing wrong with strapless gowns. Its *your* special day so do what will make you feel most beautiful. There isn't really an acceptable way to dress for weddings these days. Good luck girl and conrats!!

It depends on the weather, if it will be snowy outside it will not be acceptable. You will have people constantly asking you if you are cold due to the weather. I would definately wear a jacket if you were a strapless dress, but I would buy a different dress if I were you.

Strapless if fine for weddings. It's your dream dress.
I had a strapless for a October wedding, there was a jacket with it, it was beautiful and everyone else thought so to.

I don't see anything wrong with it. It's a formal occasion and the bridal party will probably where strapless. Why not? But since its in January a shawl or something would be appropriate.

If you feel comfortable in it, it's perfectably acceptable. I'd only worry about being cold in January, but you've already solved that problem with a jacket. Enjoy the wedding, and enjoy looking beautiful.
