I know some religions (and some very strict denominations of very common relgions) enforce "courting" in which a young man introduces himself to the young woman's family, visits her family, essentially he "dates" the family along with the young woman. He is not left alone with her. He gets to know her in a family environment.
Personally, *cough* I prefer the sin. :)

What religion states it is a sin to date? I know that some religions say you must date someone with the intent to marry them, but how realistic is that? You have to know them, spend time with them and go through all the interactions you need to in order to fall in love and WANT to marry them! Don't get yourself in an arranged marriage situation, and dating is NOT a sin, regardless so what anybody says. Dating does NOT mean pre-marital sex, however, most religions view that as a sin. So date!

There are some groups that advise against dating saying (pretty rightly many times) that it can lead to premarital intimacy. They tend to lean towards group activities.
In my family the girls were not allowed to date until 16...both my sisters married at 16 and I at 17 (I was the old maid). So I don't see prohibitions on dating as working too well.

I'm not a Christian, and don't follow the Bible, but I don't participate in dating as most people understand it. Courtship would probably be more my thing. I like the link above, at least the first part (which is all I read).

They probably practice arranged marriages, or perhaps formal "courtship", and not what is considered modern dating. To many religious people, the American secular concept of "dating" somebody (dinner, movie, coffee, sex, 3 months later move on to next person) is abhorrent. It is inherently sinful.
You should probably ask them how they define "dating".

Some people meet by fate. Dating is really an important part I do agree. But there are some women who never get asked out on dates. What should they do.
