We have a nearly two year old cat that jumps from tables etc onto our shoulders and licks our hair. We've tried different shampoos and hairstyles, worn hats but she still loves it. We rescued her as a 5 week old kitten and I have a feeling it has to do with separation anxiety perhaps?

Any help?

She loves you guys. That is what cats who are friends do to each other. She is just grooming you to show her affection.

I think that it would mostly be that she just likes hair? I have a cat that when I sleep he enjoys eating and licking my hair. I couldn't understand it either and then I watched him with the other cats he's around it seems to me to be a more of an affection thing. I guess it really just depends.

My cat loves hair. She would sleep with her face in my hair when she was a kitten. She adores my father's buzz cut. She's nine and not as fanatic about it as she was.

You might consistently tell her "no" when she jumps onto your shoulders, but she'll probably always want to lick your hair when you are sitting down.

She loves you, and knows you have accepted her. She wants to be close to you, and wants to bathe you like cats bathe each other. My Siamese tries to do this, I just scoop her into my arms and love on her. You're her baby.
