Yes, we get the dividends/bonus as well as the penalties for our actions accumulated in the reserve in our Balance sheet of the previous birth. We can not escape these. The very family in which we are born is the result of our deeds and the misdeeds in the previous birth. The body we get, the place of our birth and the parentage are all decided on the sum total of our actions then. This is what a Hindu believes.

1. We must ask, why does one get punished for something he or she cannot remember having done in a previous life?
2. If the purpose of karma is to rid humanity of its selfish desires, they why hasn't there been a noticeable improvement in human nature after all the millennia of reincarnations?
3. If reincarnation and the law of karma are so beneficial on a practical level, then how do advocates of this doctrine explain the immense and ever-worsening social and economic problems - including widespread poverty, starvation, disease, and horrible suffering in India, where reincarnation has been systematically taught throughout its history?
There are also many biblical problems with believing in reincarnation. For example, in 2 Cor 5:8 the apostle Paul states, "We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord." At death, then, the Christian immediately goes into the presence of the Lord, not into another body. In keeping with this, Luke 16:1931 tells us that unbelievers at death go to a place of suffering, not into another body.
Further, Hebrews 9:27 assures us that "man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment." Each human being LIVES ONCE as a mortal on earth, DIES ONCE, and then FACES JUDGMENT. He does not have a second chance by reincarnating into another body.

Hope that I didn't get too wordy
Blessings

NO, because you never had a previous life! Some people really have terrible answers here. No, you are not in Hell now to atone so you can be a higher vibration (whatever the crap that is!). The fact that you do not remember ANYTHING of a past life demonstrates that (1) You had no past life, or (2) your past life is not important or has any rational influence over THIS life! So given those only 2 possiblities, which do you think is more probable? For me, if my past life is not important enough to remember, then having to pay for the sins of a past life seems wholly ridiculous! And what a horrible way to exist! You pay for sins that you eventually won't remember! How do you learn from them if you cannot remember them? So, no, very unlikely to me.

Not punishment but you will harvest what you have planted before not only from previous life. It's the cause and effect law. You do good, good things will come to you, and vice versa. But however you can minimize the bad effect by doing more good deeds.
May peace be with you =)

I believe that when we die that we do carry our positive or negative energy with us. If we are reborn into a body composed of flesh then our energy will manifest in the most appropiate vessel.

I do believe that our Karma plays a large role in how we live our next live. If we have died with a large amount of negative energy we do carry some of that with us and it will burden us in our next coming.

We can never truly escape the consequences of our actions. It is only a matter of time before we reap what we sow.
Peace...

You are never punished for a prior life learning experance. You have to keep returning here to this hell until you get it right so you can move on to a higher vibration life form.

I don't think that is true. There is karma, I believe. It comes around in this life.
