Christmas doesn't smell like anything. But pine needles are often used in decoration for Christmas. Thats why the smell reminds you of Christmas.

I didn't think that was a hard thing to know.

Because that's what you grew up associating with Christmas. For me, it's pine and oranges, 'cause I grew up in Florida.
