I was born in South Korea. My dad was American in the U.S. army and my mom was Korean. I have two documents. One is my b irth certificate and the other is my birth abroad certificate, stating that I am a U.S. citizen who was born out of the States. Anyways, I lost both of my original documents and dont know how to get them back.

Why don't you call the American embassy in Korea and ask them.

Well, so far every answer is wrong.

Your Consular Report of Birth (form FS-240) was issued by the US embassy in Seoul, but they don't still have a copy. Nor, of course, does Social Security, the Army, Immigration, or your nearest City Hall.

Here is where and how to get a copy:
http://www.travel.state.gov/family/family_issues/birth/birth_593.html go about 2/3 of the way down the page, to "Obtaining Copies of the FS-240."

As for your hospital birth certificate, that will depend on where you were born: If at a US military hospital, birth records do not get recorded in a special file for children born in a military hospital, so it will be very difficult to locate.

If in a local Korean hospital, you will have to ask someone in Korea to get a copy for you.

Well, when I needed my California birth certificate, I got it with relative ease in Virginia. Just look it up on the internet. There should be an office you can go to, since you're in the same state.

U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service should have a record of your birth abroad certificate. Very often your local congressperson will have a help-line, or email line for situations such as yours as well. If you have relatives in Korea have one of them assist in obtaining your actual birth certificate.
