This is a good question, I believe you know her best. Use your imagination, this is one of those tests in life that you can (hopefully) only take once.
Example: Your girlfriend loves to collect teddy bears. Dress as a teddy bear at the airport and hire an entertainer, maybe two guys who can sing acapello. Walk up to her at the airport without saying a word, and hand her a piece of paper which may read "Please follow me Miss", gently hold her hand while you are in disguise, and take her to group who sing acapello. On cue they can start singing a proposal song preferably written by you. You drop to your knee as they sing and remove your head piece, grab a ring out of your pocket and you know the rest.
I pulled this all out of my head as an idea. My point is. make it very personable to your relationship. Only you know what to do. Put some thought into it and have a happy marriage fella.

After she schleps your luggage in the house for you and pours you something to drink and fluffs the pillow on your side of the couch.........say "I wouldn't mind having such a handy little filly like you around more often. If I marry your sister...will you still visit me. sweetie?"
Okay, I enjoyed that!
Now, say...you want to follow your dreams and the biggest part of that is her. Would she do you the honour of following all the dreams you both have TOGETHER!?! "My honey, my sweetie, would you marry me!?!" I suggest moonlight!

Take her to a restaurant get on your knee and propose to her in front of everybody. Go for it.
