Just now, like 5 minutes ago, I noticed that my cat is unable to pee again. This happened about 3 weeks ago only it was daytime so I could immediately take him to his vet. His vet said it was urinary stones which get caught in his urethra and cannot pass through. The vet took hold of his penis and squeezed some white pussy stuff out which confirmed the stones.
The problem is it is now past 8 oclock. I can't take him to the vet until morning. I don't want him to suffer all night. I turned him over and it looks as if the stones or whatever is plugging him up, is just at the surface of his penis. Is it ok if I squeeze it out, in the hope it will at least temporarily unblock him? I don't want to hurt him.
Please if anyone has knowledge of this, please reply. Thanks.

I already have food thats supposed to help for this problem. He has the stones anyway. The only reason Im posting this is for an answer to my question. I would like to know if I can possible releive my cats urninary obstruction TONIGHT before I take him to the vet in the morning. Food isn't going to do the trick.

If there is an Emergency clinic available you should go there. It is very uncomfortable for male cats to be blocked. I would not advise you to try to remove the blockage due to the possibility of causing more trauma to the area and creating more swelling and inflammation. In most cases they need to have a urinary catheter passed and be treated for a few days with fluids and anti-inflammatory medications. If there is not an emergency vet, you should call your vets office... there should be a number on the answering machine/voice-mail of who to call in the case of an emergency. This is enough of an emergency to call your vet at home if his number is available on the machine. If there is no emergency hospital there is usually a vet on call. good luck and take care.

It's normal for female cats to get UTI's and much less common for male cats. Has he been neutered, and did this start after his surgery? I would think $1000 would be plenty unless you go to an expensive vet. Different vets charge different rates, so call first. Typically you would pay for an office visit and an antibiotic. I would think about $100 would be enough for a visit to the vet, but that could vary based upon what area you are in and if it's a top notch vet. They should be able to give you an estimate of the cost over the phone if all you have is a UTI. The cheapest vets are farm vets in my area. Vets who specialize in small animal care typically charge more. My farm vet was always cheaper than the fancy little animal hospital down the street. But if you are not in a rural area, you may not have those available. Good luck, and I hope your kitty feels better soon. Oh, and Purina makes cat food for urinary tract health. It's not cheap, but our vet recommended it when one of the kitties had recurring UTI's.

It sounds very much to me like your cat has crystals in his urine which can cause the same symptoms I guess as stones. The crystals are more common.

Since you said the vet saw him for this three weeks ago he should be eating a special diet - either for the stones or the crystals and it should have had some effect by now.

The blockage is very serious as toxins in the urine can't get out of his system and will poison him. I think I would go to an emergency vet with this and not try to mess around with it myself.

I would suggest the emergency vet, or wait until the morning. I know the cat is in pain, but I thick it would be safer for him to see if the stones will pass on their own.

Our cats had this problem years ago, but unfortunately we don't realize the problem until he was passing blood. They suggested surgery or putting him to sleep. The food was actually mentioned as a not too hopeful remedy.

Budget ruled, & we chose the food fom the vet, and the problem was solved. We eventually weaned him back to store brand food, with a suppement of the "Special Care" dry food. Lesson learned...don't skimp on the cat food!

Good luck! Our cat lived to a ripe old age of 20

I have had a cat that was 2 years old and he past away this Labor Day weekend because of the very same thing. You need to call the vet office and see if they have a # that you can reach them after hours. My vet does have that so yours might. She told me that it is VERY common in male cats because they have a small urethra. If he has been blocked for very long then his bladder will explode. You might be able to wipe anything away that is at the tip of his penis.

Your vet should have provided you with some medicine that helps the stones pass in the first place. I believe the medicine breaks the stones down but I'm not too sure. I'm sorry I don't know if it would hurt your cat to squeeze them out, though I would think it would and it may damage his insides.

My cat had problems urinating. And I figured out that it was the Adams Flea Shampoo I was using on him. Cats cannot have anything with Permethrin in it. It is toxic to them. He did get medical care for his peeing problem - antibiotics, special wet food (which he wouldn't have anything to do with). special dry cat food made especially for urinary tract problem. Yes, try to squeeze his pee pee, like you were milking him. some of it just may come out. he needs help. That is what the vets do. Get this taken care of quickly. Open your wallet and take him to an emergency vet. He may need to be operated on to unblock him. poor baby. take care of him.

get your cat to an emergency vet, if you leave your cat unable to urinate it could kill your cat. you cannot get the stones out at home. A catheter needs to be passed by your vet.

Well, that explains the look on Mick and Keiths faces.
Take your cat to the vet Hosp. tonight. The other things you've tried should have worked by now.
