Leadership. Civilian organizations teach management skills. There is a big difference between leadership and management. Leaders provide purpose, direction and motivation for accomplishing a specific mission. Leaders genuinely care for their subordinates, and their well being, while still getting the mission done. Leaders set the example by their actions thereby causing their subordinates to emulate their behavior, which in turn generates more leaders. A manager supervises subordinates and only cares about the bottom line. You don't need the military to learn how to kill people. Just go to a rough neighborhood if you want to kill people. The tactics used by the military to kill can be learned in an SWAT academy or any back woods militia in America. Hope this answers your question.

Nothing.
What the Military does though is that it will instill a Strong Work Ethic, Self-Discipline and Values !!!
Some folks who have gone into the Military have never had anyone depend on them to get a job done right on the first go araound. In the Military this could result in life or death. Pretty big responsibility and Pressure !!
The Military will break a person down and then rebuild them. Pretty good for the ego and morale. The military gives a person a certain swagger that they can accomplish anything.

there is nothing in the military that is exclusively taught by the military other than things that are meant for war and war only. For example, artillery or a tank. I think every other job in the military teaches you skills you can use in the civilian world. A parachute rigger can be a load master at the airport, a mortuary affairs specialist can become a mortician. A 92S(I forget the actual MOS name, but they deal with laundry and what not in the field) can even open a laundry mat if they so desire. Point is, a military installation acts as its own city, so of course regular jobs in the civilian world are emulated in military life, with the exclusion of jobs that deal with warfare like previously mentioned.

Are you trying to ask what are the benefits of joining the army?
Or what type of skill choices there are in the army.
I believe the army has about 120 different job categories right now. Everything from aircraft mechanic/pilot, to computer tech, to your basic infantryman. And everything inbetween, from accounting clerks, to supply specialist, to band geeks. Singing could even be your job in the military.
Now if its what would the army offer you that no where else could..well thats easy...the pride you take with you having served your duty for your country under arms. that selfless act for the greater good is something that cannot be bought, or felt anywhere else.
No one can take that from you, and you can only earn that in something like being a police officer. no where else.
So, dont know what you meant in your question, I tried to answer it both ways.
Hope it helps

My job had skills that aren't even transferrable to civilian life: Artillery Radar Operator. No other radar is operated or functions in the same way.
Example: Function codes that had to be entered into a keypad to operate it. Many, many 2 digit codes. And the codes themselves and most anything having to do with the radar require Secret level clearance to know.

Killing people. Any other skill you can learn in the military can be learned elsewhere.
The difference is, most skills you will have to pay to learn. The military pays you to learn their skills.

To many to list here. I flew hovercraft for the Navy for several years. Where else can I do that? Don't say the English Channel, they are not truly air cushioned.
