Anything that you feel strongly about and are well educated on. Topics could be ..... War in Iraq, abortion, national health care, removing or keeping the trade embargo against Cuba, seperation of church and state, and many others. Keep in mind that your opinion will likely be at odds with at the very least a few. Also make sure and research what points people will use to argue against your position, but mostly try and pick something you feel strongly about and prepare yourself.

Anything that you know ALOT about! Well, when I was in college I did a speech on flossing your teeth. Why? because it was not the same old boring persuasive speeches. You could bring in floss and demonstrate. You know everyone hates the dentist, therefore it would be easy to persuade people to floss so that the dentist doesn't drill into your teeth and singe it up for that nice aroma we all love.

ok, depends on which country you're in and how much knowledge you have on certain subjects... the more knowledge the better and interest in the topics help too...

now for some examples:

drugs, recycling, abortion, abuse, helping the needy, ways to improve education, introduction to a new product that you are certain will benefit the country, smoking ban (for or against), saving endangered species, implementing an exercise campaign, nutrition (butter vs. margarine, trans fat vs. saturated fat, etc.), education importance and to what extent (will it guarantee a better life?), alcohol consumption, caning and today's children, divorce and ways to prevent it, etc.

there are too many!!! hope one of the above struck a train of thoughts for you... if not, use a little imagination and put some effort into your "task." but remember, you can't be persuasive if you do not believe in what you're saying :)
