True Christians do not revere (to regard somebody with admiration and deep respect) Mary, the mother of Jesus and the Apostles. Christians don't pray to Mary nor the saints. They do not believe in praying to the images of Mary and the saints.
True Christians directly pray to God through Jesus Christ.
Catholics believe that they have to go thru purgatory first before going to heaven. Catholics believe that when you pray for the dead, they will have a 2nd chance to get to heaven by being cleansed in the purgatory. Catholics do not have the faith that Jesus is the only ONE they need to get to heaven.
Christians believe that when they accepted Jesus Christ, confess their sins and truly repented from their sins, they believe that they will go straight to heaven.

THE TWO ARE MUTALLYEXCLUSIVE TERMS AS DIFFERENT AS DAY AND NIGHT RIGHT AND WRONG !!!!!! CHRISTIANITY WAS STARTED 2,000 YEARS AGO BY JESUS CHRIST HENCE THE NAME CHRISTIAN THE catholic church wasnt started untillabout 325 C,E. when emperor Constrantine wanted to put and end to all the fighting in his empire between the apostate christians and the pagans over petty doctrinal matters so to bring peace to the empire Constantine decided to form an official state religion that all would have to worship so he took bits and pieces from apostate christianity and bits and pieces from the pagans and slapped it all togother and on that day was born what is to become the catholic church whose teachings are quite different from TRUE CHRISTIANITY AS TAUGHT BY JESUS AND HIS FOLLOWERS FROM THE 66 BOOKS THAT MAKE UP THE INSPIRED WORD OF GOD THE BIBLE THERE IS A LOT MORE BUT THIS IS A START GORBALIZER

Catholics ARE Christians. I guess you are referring to the difference between Catholics and Protestants. Catholicism is the first Christian church, "Catholic" means "universal" in Latin, since it was the ONLY Christian church for over 1,000 years (with the exception of Eastern Orthodox, which is the same as Catholicism in doctrine, the difference is where each group believes the "seat" of their religion to be...for Catholicism, the Vatican, in Rome, for Eastern Orthodox, Constantinople {Istanbul, today} . The "difference" came about when a Catholic monk, Martin Luther, protested what he saw as abuses committed by the church, and the Protestant Reformation began (the word "protestant" referring to those that "protested" the church). If you are Methodist, Baptist, Calvinist, Latter Day Saints, Episcopal (and any other Christian faith OTHER than Catholic), you are Protestant Christian. Differences in doctrine between the two groups are communion, ways to salvation (Protestants believe in "faith alone"), confession, and direct communion with God (Protestants believe you can pray directly to God, Catholics believe you have to "ask" the saints and Mary to "relay" your prayers to God.)

All of the christian sects broke away from the catholic church at some point, or they branched off from some other group that had previously split from Catholicism.
All Christians are really warmed over catholics. Most of them know so little about the history of Christianity that they are not even aware of this. Even the bible they use is a catholic creation.
Some versions have had some minor changes but they are all substantially the same as the original catholic creation.

the " Christian"you were referring to are Protestants, who broke away from the Roman Cathoilic Church during the 1500s. The word Christian means believer of Christ. Christians are divided into Cathoilcs, Protestants, and Orthodox. Cathoilics respect Mary and he saints, not worship them. Mary and the saints did the wiill of God on earth that is why they are not only an example to Cathoilics but also to alll Christinjas. protestants always think thta Catholics worship saints but it is not true for God said, "Worship only the Lord your God, and serve Him only" Protestants only belive in the Bible that everything outside the Bible are lies and hypocrisy. That is why protestants are blind to seee the truth that Jesus wants to reveal to the world. The Bible is not only the Word of God. Do you understand?

Christians dont pray to Mary or saints, dont have preists that cant marry. They also dont have a huge system of heirarchy. They also dont own a country in italy called vatican city. They are encouraged to read and follow the Bible, where Catholics have it read to them at church for the most part. Christians dont travel all over to look at a statue, either (ie fatima)
The common elements are belief in Jesus and the Father.

I was a Catholic for some years, and then I started looking for THE REAL TRUTH!
Catholicism is a series of Beliefs about Jesus, without a Relationship. Christianity, That is TRUE CHRISTIANITY, [John 7:38-39] is A Relationship with GOD, by Jesus, and His Finished Work!
(Jeremiah 29:11-12-13) For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
(Jer 29:12) Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
(Jer 29:13) And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
Write me at my email address and I will send you my testimony how I came to Christ!
