I have on my favorite radio station (an adult contemporary type), and they are now playing holiday music 24/7. Many are religion themed and I really don't care. We all grew up with this music, I really don't pay any mind to the religious-ness of some of them. I just enjoy them as I always have.

So this is "taking Christ out of Christmas"?

Yeah, my question was (if it's so hard to figure out), is... this is "taking Christ out of Christmas"?

Christ was never in Christmas to begin with. Christmas originated as Yule/Winter Solstice. Christians in the Middle Ages stole that holiday and created their own using all the same elements as a way to convert Pagans and called it Christmas.

I was raised Christian but never once related to it. However I do enjoy religious Christmas music. But that doesn't make me want to convert back anytime soon.

I'm not sure what you are asking but I take Christmas to be a feeling and as long as I "feel" Christmasy, I'm alright.

As for reccomendations, here are some non traditional types. Motown Christmas is a nice collection of old time Christmas songs in Jazz. The Trans-Siberian Orchestra also has some nice songs.

Oh these Christians are just so T O U C H EEEEE about this subject. I said I was going to put and X in place of the baby Jesus in a Nativity scene the other day and my heads still rolling from all the slaps I received.
