I'm a little aggitated. I read so many things, and hear so many people put so much emphasis on "blue nose" or "red nose." They are NOT rare, and this is only a color!!!

I once was told someone had a Hawaiin Pit Bull...What is that? A pit bull in a hula skirt? Sheesh!

That is funny. I agree completely. I heard someone say that they had an old blue type Pitbull and then that they had a english Pitbull? not sure if that one drinks tea and crumpets or what and not exactly sure what the other is either. I think that when you see people like that their dogs are the product of byb and they needed something new to sell. all about the money to them. You know, sort of like those new hybred dog out there that are really MUTTS.
and to think, I have had a few "Hybreds" (mutts) and totally missed out. LOL
My Pit has a Lavander nose. He is a fawn and white but comes from a Blue line, People think he is a red nose but then look at him and see his nose is really Lavander, Not real desirable in the AKC but ok for the UKC, he is dual registered. I wonder if I hadn't nuetered him if I could sell Lavander Pitbulls? Just kidding, but His nose is really Lavander.

Skipper got a good one with one of their links: San Francisco, CA Pit Bull Checklist The City and County of San Francisco, Department of Animal Care and Control considers a dog to be predominantly a pit bull breed (American Staffordshire Terrier, American Pit Bull Terrier, or Staffordshire Bull Terrier) if the dog possesses 5 out of the following 8 characteristics: Head is medium length, with a broad skull and very pronounced cheek muscles, a wide, deep muzzle, a well-defined, moderately deep stop, and strong under jaw. Viewed from the front, the head is shaped like a broad, blunt wedge. Eyes are round to almond shaped, are low in the skull and set far apart. [Author note: I wonder what type of dog does not have "round to almond shaped" eyes? Are not eyeballs, by their very nature, "round"?] Ears are set high. Un-cropped ears are short and usually held rose or half prick, though some hold them at full prick. Neck is heavy and muscular, attached to strong, muscular shoulders. Body is muscular, with a deep, broad chest, a wide front, deep brisket, well-sprung ribs, and slightly tucked loins. Tail is medium length and set low, thick at the base, tapering to a point. Hindquarters are well muscled, with hocks set low on the legs. Coat is a single coat, smooth, short and close to the skin By this definition- my American Bulldog is definately a Pit Bull. Sigh.

Blue and red are the colorings of the coat. Those particular pits have very sensitive skin, though. Like white animals. Have to be careful in the sun.

I agree they're just colors. Some people make a big deal over nothing. People do get proud of their dogs for the littlest things.
