Your dog is doing this because it's so excited and happy to see you. As the previous answerer said, when you come home try being very calm. It may actually help to completely ignore the dog for a few minutes when you first get home, then when it is calm greet it and praise it and give it a treat. You could probably combine a few of the answers - change your coming home routine to immediately taking the dog out, then gradually to ignoring it for a few minutes when you come home. What you want to do is have your return cease to be a huge, stimulating, exciting event.
The good news is, this is a puppy thing and your dog will probably eventually outgrow it - but make the effort at retraining now.
Best wishes!

Does he roll onto his back and then pee? or does he stand, tuck his tail and then pee? If he is on his back it's a submissive peeing, if he is standing then it's a scared peeing. When you come home try not to show him attention right away, wait a couple of minutes (I know it will be hard)then without saying anything just pet him, then when you do talk to him don't use a happy voice, talk calmly and softly. My dog use to do submissive peeing as well, it drove me nuts and this worked for me, it took a couple of tries, eventually it was much improved.

i know why this happens my dog too does the same thing, when you get home from work or something, your dog is so happy and excited to see you, he pees on the floor, i would say take him out before you leave or if you work a long time call someone over to take him out. because he is 1 year old he is still little bit of a puppy and needs to be takin outside.
that is what i did with my dog.

hope this helps!

some dogs outgrow "happy pee" give your pup some time. I have a cocker spaniel who did this as a pup so what I did is as soon as I came home I raced her into the yard so she could go. She has outgrown that now at 1 and a half years of age. Some dogs also do this to show submissiveness. As pups confidence grows the happy pee goes away if related to submissiveness

That's fairly common, especially with smaller dogs. It happens either when they are very excited about something/someone or are very intimidated and scared. It might go away or lessen on it's own as the dog gets used to whatever it is that is exciting him, but there's no guarantee. I've heard one way to avoid it is to gradually approach the dog (when you get home or whenever he's pissingly excited about whatever). for example, when you get home, don't immediately let him out of his kennel or pick him up. Say hello and wait a moment and then pet him and generally take care not to excite him more.

is he crate trained? sometimes that helps. my puppy does that when he sees other people and he hasn't been taken outside yet. he's not scared, he just doesn't have the control over his bladder yet.
when you enter the house, don't bend down to pet him, etc. ignore him for a few minutes until he calms down. that should work. another thing to do is crate train him, then snap that leash on him asap. take him outside. also, take him out before you leave in the A.M.
crate training works so well. i have a dach, which everyone said was the hardest to potty-train. he is about 6 mths, and no more accidents, at all. he learned in a couple of mths.

Try not to talk to your dog in a high pitched voice like you are excited to see him. Also it depends on how long he has waited to go. In a stern voice when he pees tell him no so he knows it is wrong to do that.

Do you greet him at the door and make a big fuss over him when you first get home?
Sometimes, playing down your entry home can also help your dog with his "happy" pees.

This will stop with age. Just keep taking him out to pee. He just doesn't have complete control of his bladder yet. He just gets so excited that he pees his pants.

I'm sorry I don't have a cure for you but at least you know he loves you very much. Keep a towel handy and clean-up after him.Don't scold him for being excited to see you.
