I was wondering how much weight can a person lose (by an educated guess)...if they cut all soda/pop out of their diet...and all sweets

Especially if you drink alot of pop and eat alot of junk....like maybe instead...cereal for breakfast...and lunch...maybe peanuts for a snack...and whatever you want for dinner...how much weight do you think a person could lose in a month

it depends on how much you drink/eat. calories are energy in foods and beverage that your body either burns or stores as fat.
a 20oz coke has about 250 Calories; a pound of fat has about 3000 Calories.
So, all other things equal, if you replace 12 bottles of coke with a calorie-free alternative, such as diet coke or water, you will have 3000 less calories in your system.
this doesn't necessarily mean you will lose a pound, though. if you still eat more calories than you burn, even after switching to diet drinks, you will gain weight. if you are currently maintining your weight, you will lose a pound by eliminating the extra calories.
of course, your weight will fluctuate in the course of a day, depending on when you eat, go to the bathroom, if you hair is wet, and what you're wearing, if you wear clothes on the scale.
so the best bet is to manage the amount of calories you eat in a day and, to lose weight, eliminate calories from your diet by eating less, and burn more calories by exercising more.

If you cut out all soda, depending on how many you drink, lets say 3-4 a day. You can loose about 5-7 lbs. just from that. Mostly because it is full of sodium and makes you retain fluid. You need to flush yourself out with water instead though. Sweets and junk food, depending on how much you eat...lets say 2-3 items a day. you could loose another 5-6 lbs by cutting them out. Remember to replace the junk with nutritious snacks. Protein and veggies and fruit to stay healthy and have energy to move which if you exercise also, you could loose another 4-6 lb. Just remember, change gradually and stick to a good nutritional replacement for the things you take away. That way it's a lifestyle change, not a diet. Die...t? Spells what? you don't want to die, just live healthy right? Good luck.

They'd lose about twenty more pounds per year. Some people do have to have some sweets part of the time though. Perhaps you mean no junk food types of sweets?

I have heard that just by switching to diet cola you can eliminate 20 lbs a year. Of course I have no real data to support this. I think it's a good start though! Good Luck
