If I wasn't sure whether I'd drown or not I wouldn't inhale water to test it. The reason you wouldn't test those things is because they could have dangerous outcomes, not because you already know the outcomes. Of course testing people's faith can have dangerous outcomes as well, so God sure is being an idiot there.

Putting it to the test is not always a bad thing. Many people put God to the test and yet, He never fails them. God tests you to let you grow in faith. If there are no tests in life, you would never grow. God is testing you every minute. Opening a door for someone, helping an old lady cross a street and such. He is always testing you to make you grow and follow the footsteps of His Son Jesus. Although He tests you, He will never give you a test that is far greater than the grace He has given you to overcome it. And yes, God says ' Test me.' It's in the Bible. Check it out. You will find out so much about Him and Christianity.

That is a selling point, that religious people use to attract new comers. It starts out with God loves you just as you are, meaning God dose dot care what you did or what others have do to you as long as they have you now, then Jesus is a loving, caring forgiving god and if you accept him as your savior your slate will be wiped clean in his eyes, then when you start slipping, they tell you god is testing you, when they feel you have been slipping but you don't confess then they say god is an all knowing god.
Tricky stuff that works on a lot of people so after a while you either join them or eat crow. but all these things are broken down and feed to you as seen fit after all they must use the carrot & stick method to lead you to one of them. Been there done that, and now I'm spreading the message that it's a lie.

This is the difference between Science and Religion
Science is about testing and proving a theory, science will always scrutinise it's theory's, which is why they are called theories even when they are essentially fact. Good example of this is the Theory of Evolution and Natural Selection - it is still called a theory, despite the overwhelming evidence to support it as a truth!
Religion is about blind acceptance of what you are told or read. The "success" of religion, is the complete lack of questioning, reason or proof.
These are the two paths to righteousness, I know which one I choose..

Those were great! Thank you! Only in America where you can get a pizza delivered faster to your door (and guaranteed to be hot or it's free) than an ambulance before the victim dies and the body gets cold and you still have to pay for the ambulance service!

Read the writings of St. Augustine. You are asking an age old question. Remember, all people of faith are at a different place on their journey of life. God gives us understanding, and each person uses different situations to deal with their situation. The most important part is that God is with them, and they are aware of that, and that fills them with peace. We are born with free will, so God does not dictate what happens to us. We are not so much tested in our faith as we are stregthened in it. Trial brings about trust in God, rather than a test in faith. Difficulties are in every life, and so are faith struggles in the most faithful of people.

There is a country song I really enjoy. Its about the journey we take in life. It says that "Walking's easy when the road is flat, but dang those hills will get you every time" and that "Sometimes God gives us mountains so we can learn how to climb".
He wishes to give us the strength to stay strong in our faith so that the slightest of winds does not take us off course.

There is no cable TV in heaven, I guess, and eternity is a long time to go without some form of entertainment...guess playing a game of SimEarth helps pass the time.
