I would put him on a heating pad on low temp with a blanket over the heating pad. Bottle feed him puppy milk replacer every couple of hours. At 3 weeks old mine (I am a breeder) usually eat every 3-4 hours.

It is ILLEGAL in EVERY state to sell a pup at 3 weeks old! Report the pet store!

At 3 weeks as long as he is eating he will more than likely survive. I breed dogs and have handreared some from birth. You CAN go ahead and start mixing a little amount of canned food with puppy milk and putting a small dab in his mouth. My german shepherds are weaned by the time they are 4 weeks old; I don't take them from their mammma but she won't feed them once the teeth come in. Also leave some hard kibble in some water to soften. Also you can start eye dropping some water into his mouth.

The pet store said...? The rest has died?

If the pup is 3 weeks old, he needs to be in puppy formula. Probably still being bottle fed. And he needs to eat about every three hours around the clock.

With no teeth, he can't go on solid foods (not even softened or canned foods). Puppy formula, period.

You might be able to get him to lap up the formula in a week. To start this, fill a low-sided pan with some formula and gently press his chin into the liquid. He will lick his mouth and realize what is in the dish.

At 4 weeks, you can cut his feeding back to every 4 hours around the clock. At 5 weeks, every 5 hours, around the clock.

Once he gets teeth, you can add puppy kibble to the formula about 20 minutes before you put it down. He will likely not show much interest in the kibble at first, but he will soon start eating it along with lapping up the formula.

As a single pup, he needs companionship. Unless you have an adult dog who is willing to stand in as a foster parent, you need to keep this pup with you as much as possible.

Good luck, and do more research, please, on proper care of pups. Go to the bottom of the link I am giving and read more about caring for pups.

Um...I would report that pet store to the humane society and animal control...that is cruel to take in and sell/give puppies that age.

You will be hard pressed to keep this baby alive.

You need to get to a pet store or vet and get puppy formula and a nurser, and nurse that baby round the clock. Do not give cow's milk or any other kind of milk!

You may need to stimulate this pup to go potty. Take a wash cloth that has been soaked with warm water and stroke it's genital and anal area. The mom dog would normally lick the pup to get it to go. I'm not exactly sure how old the puppy is before it can go reliably on it's own.

He needs to be left in a box or secure crate, with plenty of blankets or towels to keep warm. A stuffed animal can bring this pup comfort as well.

Good luck. Please visit my website and email me from there about the pup's progress...

It sounds to me as though your pup may have mange. The most common symptoms are usually small pimple type bumps (usually first seen on the muzzle, head and/or front legs) and patchy hair loss. Pitbulls are one of the breeds that seem to especially prone to this condition and it can have a genetic component. Mange is caused by tiny skin mites, and can be diagnosed by your vet taking a skin scraping and looking at it under the microscope. Treatment is with special shampoos and/or dips and is very effective. I'd strongly recommend taking your puppy to the vet for an examination. To learn more about mange visit the webpage below. Best of luck with your pups.

He needs to be fed about every 2 hours, day and night. He should be on puppy formula fed with a bottle. You can also start giving him a mush of formula and baby rice cereal, fix it very thin at first. You can spoon feed it with a baby spoon or get him to lap it up. In a few days, start to add some meat baby food to the mush. Hope the little guy will be okay. What kind of dog is it? Be very careful with a heating pad. They often get too hot and the heat can kill them more than the cold. You can get a disc at the pet store to warm up in the microwave. You can put it in the bed with the baby to keep him warm.

Keep pup with heating pad on very low temp even put towels over it. He can keep a body temp but they can chill some, and he has no litter mates to cuddle with. Watch the pup for illness, any diarreah or vomit take the pup right to the vet. The pup should not have been sold, it has no immune defense against anything it has now been exposed to in the pet shop. With litter mates already dead I would take it to be examined any ways tomorrow morning ASAP. Also be sure to have them check its stool for parasites and worms.

BE Sure to Report this too a Local Paper and News, that is illegal in most states to sell pups that young.

The dog should be older than 8 weeks before they are taken away from their mothers but that is besides the point I would call a vet.

He's too young to be away from his mama. The pet shop should be cited for animal cruelty.
Also, many states have laws forbidding the sale of dogs younger than six weeks old. I prefer eight weeks myself.

The most important thing for you to do now is to keep him warm. He's not old enough to regulate his body temps.
