Heat helps, & she can also do stretching exercises that stretch the back muscles. She can try lying on her back & pulling her knees to her chest & holding them there for a minute or so. My husband has back problems as well & he got a list of stretches from his chiropractor.

Have your wife take some ibuprofen or any kind of anti-inflammatory to help with the pain and help calm the area down. Heat works well too and it could either be from a heating pad for about 20-30 min. at a time or a hot shower or bath. If the pain gets worse I recommend seeing a doctor. If it is a muscle the heat and ibuprofen should help her out. Good luck and hope it works for her.

I don't know what has caused her pain but a few weeks ago I was having really bad back pain. I laid on a heating pad for a few hours each night for about 4 days and the pain went away.

See a doctor. You need to rule out the possibility of a cyst on her lower spine. She may be able to be treated with cortisone. Either way she will most probably have to undergo an MRI.
