Then how can he have the ability (power) to change anything? If he knows a thing will happen it is predestined to happen. So nothing will be able to prevent it from happening. Yes it's me again. God bless kisses Betty.

True I am just assuming God is all powerful meaning he has limitless power therefore he will know all things past present and future. Is that logical to assume. kisses Betty.

Very interesting answers can't anyone just say, "I don't know." To be honest I am completely perplexed about predestination whether there is a God or not makes little difference. I am Atheist and I believe in free will (choice) but for the life of me I can't determine why. Kisses Betty.

It's like this. God knows all of the possible outcomes of the future too and so He picks the ones that He wants to come to pass. It's like the question of whether or not people have free will. They do but it's like if a person were playing chess with someone who knew every move that they would make in response to how the board was set up before them. Every time God makes a move He already knows how a person will respond so even though the person has the choice of what move to make God has already calculated how He is going to use that move and the one after and the one after, etc to accomplish his will here on earth. And being infinite and all knowing He does that with every person and also controls all of the things that will come into a person's life. He either brings or allows the things that happen here on earth. That's one reason why a believer can have faith in this promise....
1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

If God can see all events that will happen past, present, and future, that would be what would happen if he left everything alone. Once he changes something, like saving someones life or whatever, that one changed event will change other events to follow. Time is like a railroad track, once something is altered, the train switches to a different track, but God can still see whats gonna happen. I hope this all made sense.
Also, just because God can see the future doesn't mean that we aren't making our own decisions. We set the path, but he can see the path we are going to set. The real question about free will is this....
How can something that was created have true free will? God made everything, then set it in motion...the big bang or whatever you wanna call it. As atoms and particles collided and eventually formed everything that exists weather planned or not, we were created. We are given our genetic traits and environment, thus all decisions are based on those things...genetic traits (our urges, our built in fears, our temper, etc) and the environment that surrounds us(family, living conditions, what we are taught, pat experiences, etc). So how are our decisions really decisions? Are we real or simply well programmed machines that feel?

Ok I have a question for you. Where did you hear that god knows what will happen in the future. I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but many people hear things from other people and asume them to be true, if you found this in the bible please tell me the verse. There are many controversial things in the bible.
But my understanding of this question is this; Time is an earthly thing. I believe where god is there is no time. And if there is no time where he is than how can he know what was in the future. It is a confusing subject becuase we cannot think without time. There is no past or future only present. Everything is present. What happend here on earth 1,000 years ago is, was, and has happend in heaven. Also I don't believe that there is space in heaven. Becuase if there is no time, than it takes no time to get anywhere, and if it takes no time to get anywhere how can it begoing there???? Like I said it is all very confusing.

I agree. If the future is known, and unchangeable, there can only be predestination, not free will. I think this is how John Calvin arrived at predestination, but I'm not sure.

true god as no power, lets say someone did something against nature to you when you were lets say under the age of ten, well god allowed that to happen but you have to live with all your life and god can justify it as saying it was a way to get you to come to me, however since god answers to no one he can then justify any wrong doing, why because god has no power and that is shown in the bible our Jesus could not even get out of a court hearing and then he said he did it for us. bull

If all of creation was created by a creator of itself then all that is created is that which created it. You cannot seperate the creative energy from the manifested energy, all is indeed one. I say this to set the reasoning for this answer. What you call god can change everything simply because it is everything. The Creator would simply have to change it's mind.

You have a choice. He knows what is down each path you take or not take. He can see each choices and the out come of each choice. But in the end it is up to you not a one way path made in stone.
Just do what you know is right. That is all we can do.

Have you thought about who makes the decisions? In other words, if it is 'predestined', it implies that someone decided that something was going to go a certain way.
I'll let you figure out who that 'someone' is.

God has a purpose for everything He does. Don't try to change it. He knows what's best for you. Your actions were planned by God to mold you into a better person. Count on it. .ü
